  This REI store needs serious attention on it's customer service. 40-year REI member, been to many different REI stores in the Western U.S. many times and one finally opens in my own town only to find the worst shopping experience. I've made a half dozen visits so far to the Chico store and each time there is either no sales staff on the floor available to provide assistance or if I do find someone they seem so disinterested in helping. 2/3 of my visits have me walking up to the registers to request help in a section of the store. Today's experience: 5 customers waiting on help in shoes, no staff to be seen. Each of us looking at each other wondering if someone will appear. Walk back to the registers requesting help (4 staff standing at registers talking), a staff members makes an appearance at a door near shoes and disappears and finally a staff member comes out of the back to help. First world problems for sure but damn, the shopping experience is dismal.

  Came to try and exchange a pair of Leki trekking poles that have broken tips. Brand new poles I bought in May of this year at an REI (less than 3 months of use). Was told It’s normal wear and tear.

  They were helpful when l needed a replacement straw for my water bottle. They didn’t have any, but suggested Target which did.
