First off I want to mention I am not posting this out of emotions or anger. I want to express and share my honest experience of what happened to me at this bike shop and warn all of you before you decide to have service at this bike shop. I've had a hard time finding a good bicycle mechanic and I decided to try Castro Valley Cyclery and my first impression was how empty the shop was. Not one single customer, completely empty. I explained, " all I need was a Derailleur adjustment and everything else on the bike was new, so there was nothing wrong except it needs an adjustment" The manager, Tyler Dietrich, tried to sell me a bunch of things and I declined because he was desperate to make a sale and not out of honesty. When I picked up the bike a few days later after receiving a message that it was ready, again I noticed the bike shop was completely empty, 0 customers. I took bike out for a test ride and noticed the adjustment wasn't made. I mentioned to the manager, Tyler Dietrich, and he put it on rack and said there's nothing wrong. I told him, "you need to put a load on the bike and ride it. He rode it around the shop and he realized the shifting wasn't right and said, "there's nothing wrong" He said I need to get new parts and again tried to sell me stuff that wasn't needed. Next he began to get confrontational with me which I didn't understand because I am the customer and I am the one paying for service. I asked for a refund, which he gave me and told me to never come back again. I was shocked. All of you Mountain bikers and road cyclists who likes to have your bikes dialed in, adjusted properly, fine-tuned, DO NOT GO TO THIS BIKE SHOP. You will be disappointed. Trust me. Now it makes sense why their were no customers here. And if you need to buy a new bike go somewhere else. This place isn't worth the headache and frustrations.

Best place I ever been to. The customer service is excellent and their repairs are second to none. They give quality service. They treat you like family. It’s like walking into Cheers where everyone knows your name. Do your self a favor skip the other bike shops and go here you will not be disappointed.

TL;DR
If you want quality bikes and quality services with no questions asked, this is fine. However, a lot of the services are overpriced and don’t expected to understand the bike problems.
I don’t usually give bad reviews, but I have to get this out there to warn you about this specific trek shop’s services.
First with positives, the Serbian guy, Bogdan, was very helpful when I purchased the bike there. Keep in mind that he can be straightforward and honest due to cultural differences. But I appreciate that.
I later came back a year later because I wanted to know the reasons for the problems of my bike brakes, so I talked to the person in front. He told me that a safety inspection would allow them to diagnose the problem. So I paid $64.99 for that.
It can be reasonably expected that a bike shop would help you understand the problem verbally after a paid inspection, but that did not happen. Only vague short phrases about the problem is printed on the receipt, “ I recommend a chain, brake pads front and rear, new tire in the rear…” which was not helpful at all. I was verbally told of the problems with vague explanation of the cause and no further explanation of how the problem can be fixed.
I can see why this happens. Mechanics can get impatient if you try to understand the problem as they have other bikes to work on. The store seems to be understaffed mechanically and the service manager seems to promote an unhealthy work culture.

Open at 11, couldn't advise about co2 cartridges for tire inflation, very convenient, parking lot has incredibly narrow spots
