  I stopped by the REI Arcadia location yesterday to do a simple shoe exchange, as the size I originally purchased online was slightly too large. What I thought would be a quick transaction turned into an extremely pleasant interaction with the cashier, Victor. He provided me with a ton of great advice about what to look for when picking the correct size—far more information than anyone had ever shared with me before. He even guided me over to the benches and had me try on both a 10.5 and a 10 to ensure I was getting the perfect fit, especially since this particular shoe can run large. Beyond the shoe advice, Victor genuinely inquired about what I'd be using them for. He asked about any upcoming adventures and even offered some excellent guidance on the specific hike I have coming up. The time he spent with me made me feel like a valued customer. Thanks to his exceptional customer service, I will definitely be returning to this specific location.

  I went to REI Arcadia in hopes of getting expert advice on new hiking shoes. Luckily I had already done research ahead of time and new what brands to look for. The guy on the floor was not very helpful and could not share much guidance and honestly didn’t really want to learn what I was looking for. Pretty disappointing, especially given that im looking for a higher quality boot. Will try another location.

  We were able to find what we needed for an upcoming Alaska cruise. The puffer jackets were even on sale. We got a $30 voucher just in time for the July 4th Sale by joining the customer loyalty program.

  I LOVE REI, so it pains me to give ANY REI only 2 stars, but I also feel like I have to write this review. Came in to get a few items on our way up north and my husband asked an older male employee named Jerry where the water backpacks were. Jerry annoyingly/loudly responded “ANY backpack can be a water backpacks!” Like I said, not enthusiastic, but ANNOYED. Sensing Jerry’s tone my husband decided to tell him you’re not being helpful and walked away. Jerry kept talking sarcastically about how else we could make water backpacks. I was upset but decided not to say anything to him out of fear of what he might say to me. I walked over to another section, and noticed another couple also asked Jerry a question regarding a backpack as well. However his response was COMPLETELY different to how he responded to my husband. Jerry was very kind, patient and informative to them and different from his response to us. This really angered me and that’s when I decided to get his name and write this review bc I thought maybe he was just a grouch, but seeing his demeanor change drastically with another couple really angered me. Similar questions regarding backpacks, but one was borderline an explosive response v a calm and helpful response. Went to check out and reported the employee. We were so distracted talking about our experience at checkout that when we got to the car and looked at our receipt, we realized we were charged for an item twice. Had to go back and getting it fixed was no issue, but it was still a hassle especially since we had a long drive ahead of us. As I said, we love REI, we have a membership and use the credit cards. Another employee was completely different and he is the only reason why this review isn’t only 1 star, but this was our first really bad experience with the company which leads me to believe that it must have been the employee mentioned.

  The customer service here is horrible, especially the employee Jerry. Very rude and annoyed when asked for help. Go to another store.
