Sunday's Trailside Bike Repair class was perfect for me. Johnny Aiken the bike shop manager contacted me by email and phone to confirm what type of bike i have and the proper clothing (closed toed shoes and clothes that can get dirty) to wear. Johnny mentioned the class does not cover fixing flat tires which is a separate workshop. The topics covered were fixing a broken chain, addressing noisy drivetrains, handling barrel adjustments, broken spoke management and proper chain lubrication. I brought my own tools and Breezer ebike. Johnny was welcoming and had an outline of topics and asked what I wanted to prioritize. He is very knowledgeable and informative. We started with barrel adjustments combined with derailleurs, noisy drivetrains, chain management and broken spokes. Johnny explained everything in easy to understand terms, demonstrated techniques and then let me do everything hands on with my tools. After we covered the topics, we reviewed everything and then I took notes for later use and some additions to my tool and bike supply list. Great class and Johnny was an outstanding teacher. I highly recommend this class for in the field and shop bike maintenance.

Didn’t make it inside because the parking lot was full, so I left.

This was my first time at this location and upon entering the store an employee who was riding in on his bike nearly ran me over. No excuse me, no sorry, just a pure, pompous attitude. The overall vibe in the store was also off. The only person who spoke to me was an associate who tried to sell me a membership. I was really looking forward to having an enjoyable experience, but instead I was met with rudeness and a pompous attitude. I won't be returning to this store again. Not like they care.

Complaint against "Woody" at the shoe department as per surrounding employees. Today, 7/14/26 at approximately 12:30pm noon, I walked in to buy sneakers. My husband was with me. Mind you this was our first time at any REI store. I sat down on one of their benches waiting to be attended and to get my shoe size. I waited patiently for quite sometime while "Woody" was attending two couples before me, which was fine. I continued to wait patiently for my turn until a a 4th customer came and he attended her and I was completely ignored and bypassed....So I walked out and NEVER again will I walk in this store. His behavior gives REI a bad image and reputation. "Woody" did not even so slightly acknowledge me as a customer at least to say "I'll be with you in a moment." I was completely ignored and treated as if I didn't exist. It's true what a previous reviewer said that they discriminate against "Mexicans". I too felt I was being discriminated against. I was totally ignored based on my skin color. Yet the customers before me were all white couples. I'm Hispanic/Mexican American (generation similarly to Selena's family) and my husband is VERY white and I was still discriminated against. NEVER, NEVER, EVER will I contribute/donate/fund/support this very disgusting, repulsive, racist co-op! Please don't waste your hard earned money on a racist, discriminating store! Tucson was founded and pioneered by Spanish and Mexican families! Please read up on Tucson's history and heritage at U of A. Also, alot of natives here. We have no room for racism nor discrimination here! You should be ashamed of yourselves REI! Either cease your discrimination or ship out!
