  I’ve been shopping at the Huntsville REI since it opened, and today’s visit was the most disappointing experience I’ve had there. I came in looking for kayaking life vests and made two full loops around the store, pausing several times because I was clearly trying to figure out where they might be. Throughout my visit, multiple employees were standing together talking with each other, but no one approached me or asked if I needed help. It was a stark contrast to the customer service I remember when the store first opened, when employees were engaged, knowledgeable, and eager to help customers. The only interaction I had was as I walked out the door empty-handed, when an employee called across the store, “Thanks for coming in.” I would have much preferred someone ask if I needed help while I was still shopping. Even if the answer had simply been that this location doesn’t carry life vests, it would have saved me time and left me feeling like a valued customer.

  Cole provided excellent customer service when an issue arose around a prior transaction and I will be sure to be back again

  Started riding my mountain bike over the weekend and have found that I really enjoy riding like I was nine years old again. Noticed yesterday that the front tire was losing air quickly and took it to REI, they’re actually the only place open on a Monday morning. Jeremy was the bike technician that took care of me this morning, not only was he friendly and knowledgeable, he showed me how to take the tire off so I don’t have to bring the whole bike in next time. We had some light conversation about his favorite trails in the Huntsville area, he had me out of there in 20- 30 minutes. We even had to laugh about how I had to find to sign a form stating that REI is not responsible for me not knowing how to ride a bike, or falling off my bike. We do live in different times! I highly recommend REI bike services. That’s who I’ll be using moving forward.
