Tee times every 9 minutes on an already short course is a terrible idea. Play here if you want a 5 hour, 5300 yard round with a group hitting into you the entire day.

This was the last course on my golf trip. This course is better than the other munis like Oak Mountain or Frank House, but not quite on the level of a Ballantrae, Timberline or Bent Brook. Course is very well maintained and in decent shape. The service and facilities were good though they are a little dated; especially the restrooms. My only real complaint is that the entire course is car path only and that just makes pace drag, especially if you end up behind a bad group like we did.

Hunter Rothfeder in the pro shop was amazing, very friendly and knowledgeable about the course. Friendly staff and a well maintained golf course! The fairways are incredible, the greens are fast and roll true, and the views are great! 10/10 Recommend.

We visited Highland Park Golf Course on Saturday for lunch and chose to sit outside since the indoor area is very small. Unfortunately, the outdoor experience was disappointing. The music being played at the cart barn was extremely loud — Metallica blasting across the patio and even the first tee. My husband went into the golf shop to politely ask if it could be turned down. The employee walked to the cart barn, told them to change it, then looked up at us and laughed while talking to the staff, bear in mind we could hear what he was saying. They switched the music but left the volume just as loud. Having worked in the golf industry years ago, this type of behavior and noise level would never have been acceptable. It showed a lack of respect for guests and for golfers preparing to tee off. The setting is beautiful, but the atmosphere created by the staff made the experience far less enjoyable than it should have been.

This was my first time at Highland Park. Im in my early 50s and a pretty chill dude playing with 2 buddies and we are average golfers. We went 82, 84 me, and 89. Pretty average day for our group. Very nice facilities and some fantastic scenery! The course is in great condition and very well taken care of. As someone previously mentioned there are definitely some 'gems' out there. Overall very tight and challenging but I dig it. If your spread is more than 30 yards on your driver you best hit 3 wood and keep it in the fairway! This is a shorter course than average but the tight fairways and sloping greens more than make up for it. The parking is challenging but they had a nice dude giving you rides up the hill, very cool I thought. The staff...Golf shop guys, cool and informative, nice dudes. Bartender, helpful with whatever you want, knows his stuff, nice dude. Starters, talked with 2 of them, shift change...both were very informative and talkative. Explained the course, took the time to stop and talk although the place was packed! Cart girls, had 2, shift change. Both very talkative and nice girls. And they both made great drinks! Marshall, now he was cool the first several times we talked with him on the first 8 holes...I get it, we are packed in here like sardines and its his job to keep everyone moving for a 4 hour round....but he tells us on the 9th hole we are the slow group...WTHeck are you talking about dude. We have 3 since 1 didn't show, we are the fastest group out here. We tell him we waited for the group ahead of us to hit there second to the green and then we hit once both carts went by the the driving range. If you don't know 9 is a blind tee shot as you can't see the group in front of you over the hill. We were NOT happy and let him know it...as we waited on 10 for over 15 minutes to tee off he came back and said he was wrong as we talked to him again. Still this should have never happened! This definitely changed my opinion of the place, which is unfortunate. You got a job but it's never the 3 some dude... Also, be ready to get your steps in as others have said. Cart path only! Lots of walking. Which is a healthy thing and keeps this course very well maintained. For the money...over 120 for greens and range balls...I think its a bit high. Although you are in the heart of Birmingham... Just know this place is packed. You will wait on every shot except your putts. We still played in 4 hours 15 minutes. My group likes to play fast since we are old farts and get stiff if we stop!
