  Kelley at REI set the standard for what great customer service actually looks like. I’m brand new to climbing and walked in with more questions than answers. Kelley didn’t rush a single part of the process. She took the time to walk me through multiple shoe options, explained the differences in fit and performance, and made sure I understood what I was trying on, not just what I was buying. What really stood out was the follow-through. The exact pair I needed wasn’t available in-store, and instead of stopping there, she called another location, waited on hold, and personally confirmed they had the right size ready. That level of ownership is rare. She made what could have been an overwhelming first experience feel easy, thoughtful, and dialed in. If you’re getting into climbing, or even if you’ve been doing it for years, Kelley is the person you want helping you.

  This store has some of the best staff I've ever met at an REI. They always go above and beyond to expand your options or teach you about a new brand they're carrying. The only downside is it's in a very busy location and the store gets shopped heavily. I like going in because of the staff but there's rarely my size in the exact item I'm looking for. The solution is to order online and pickup at the store. So that specific store gets the sale.

  Horrible experience, why would you say there is a 1 year warranty to return any item but then they don't want to take the item and say it's normal wear and tear. I'm a nurse I work on my feet and these are supposed to be working shoes. How is it possible that 6 months with the shoes and they already had a whole. Cashier was rude too. Never coming back

  Stopped at the Westheimer-Houston store to check out options for carrying groceries on my bike. An associate named Kelley near the bicycle department showed me what they had in stock. Kelley was a great help, and asked if there was anything else I was looking for. I told her travel backpacks, and lucky for me that was her department. Kelley measured my torso length and went over a few options that would work best for me. I'm so glad I got her help because the backpack I thought I wanted was not a good fit for me in size or function. If you're in the market for a backpack and want to get expert advise, ask for Kelley at the Westheimer store.
