I'm not a member, and have looked for specialty items twice at REI in my entire life because they were not available in store anywhere else. The pressure by the cashiers to join the co-op is ridiculous. A polite "no, thanks" is taken as "I'll disregard your wishes and repeat the same information in hopes I push you into a sale." If you reward employees' aggression to the point they're not listening to customers, you're doing it wrong. It has the opposite effect on me ever wanting to visit this location or any REI again. I'll shop directly with the manufacturers of the specialty products moving forward.

This time, someone even went to the back to help me find what I needed — which I really appreciated. Unfortunately, the person who checked me out wasn’t very friendly. I asked a couple of questions and she seemed annoyed, which made the interaction uncomfortable. It’s not what I’m used to from REI, so it was disappointing. I might think twice before coming back to this location.
