- MFMatt Foster1 day ago3.0They have good gear and good deals, however, we visited twice for hiking boots and ended up with the same salesman who seemed to have little interest in assisting us. The first time we asked to see some boots he basically told us no, come back in a few weeks when we have a sale. Hard to argue the point, no I want to spend more now,but we left and came back 2nd time. This time he told us we don't have any shoes in that size and brought out a pair 2 sizes too big then left to help someone else. We waited for a bit but neither he nor anyone else seemed interested in assisting. We went to Bass Pro and found the same boots for a little less. Nothing against REI itself, if you can walkin and grab what you need, great, just don't expect a totally positive experience if you need employee assistance at this location.

The cashier at the front was visibly upset when I refused to pay an extra $30 for their membership with fringe benefits that I’ll likely never use. He held me up for minutes and ignored my wishes to not join their membership, he tried to win me over via submission I swear. God forbid I want to walk into a store to buy an item and walk out. It’s a shame because the kind folks who helped me look for and try out shoes were excellent. They were very helpful and knowledgeable. That cashier though, woof. Terrible. I will not be returning.
