  Staff is always friendly and make everyone feel welcome while shopping around. So glad we have an REI in town, best place for all things hiking and mountains.

  I’ve been a huge Saucony shoe fan for quite a while & after recently switching styles & experiencing some calf pain, I started researching foot issues. This lead me to the Altra brand of shoes w/ their wide toe box which allows the foot to naturally spread out to improve stability & reduce fatigue. After emailing Altra about my issues, they recommended heading up to REI & try some on. Josh was hands down one of the best shoe salesmen I’ve ever had. We discussed my issues, his recommendations, etc. it was such a great experience & I will def be back !! The store is huge & everyone is so nice & experienced there !! A+++++

  I purchased a backpack, sleeping bag, and some other items from this location! AJ was extremely knowledgeable and took the time to answer my questions thoroughly. Her guidance helped me find exactly what I needed, and I left feeling confident in my purchase. We had a great experience here!

  I’ve visited this REI several times while getting ready for camping, and every time it’s been an amazing experience 🏕️✨ The staff are always so kind and really great at explaining things in a way that makes sense. Today we came in to buy shoes for my mother-in-law, and Drew helped us so much 👟👏 He knows so much about shoes (he’s a runner!), and he explained everything; fit, support, what to watch out for, soles, sizing… seriously all of it 🏃‍♂️📏 He’s honestly the best shoe salesperson I’ve ever met. He was also super patient and generous with his time 😊 Thanks to Drew, we had the best experience here! If you have questions about running or trail shoes, go find Drew 🙌💚

  I recently visited the REI in College Station and decided to become a member. The associate at the time was great and mentioned I would receive a $30 bonus, explicitly stating I could use it "any time this year." This was a major reason I signed up. Today, I went in planning to use that bonus. A super nice cashier tried her best to assist me, but it turns out the bonus expired last week. I was never told about a specific expiration date, only the "anytime this year" timeframe, which feels incredibly misleading. The truly disappointing part was the local manager's attitude. The cashier called her over for assistance, and the manager was dismissive and frankly, quite rude. She didn't offer a "hello" or "how can I help you," simply stated there was "nothing she could do" in a cold manner and walked away. After leaving the store, I contacted REI customer service directly. They were extremely disappointed to hear about my experience and the miscommunication regarding the bonus expiration. They immediately sent me a new bonus to use. This excellent response from REI corporate suggests that the local manager absolutely could have helped but simply chose not to. My low rating is purely for that specific manager and the initial miscommunication at the College Station store. The cashier was fantastic, and corporate customer service redeemed the situation, but the in-store management needs improvement.
