I thought this was just how it was until one day the charger broke off completely into my computer and a friend lent me their charger which worked perfectly and easily. When I went into the store to request a new charger, I was assisted by Francisco. He took the time to look into the various options available for replacement, eventually finding that my model watch is no longer in stock in any store. He was able to get me a new charger, and I feel he really took into consideration my concerns about the charger and watch. I appreciate his support.

When I finally did find someone and I asked how to find the right item for me, he told me, “it will feel comfortable,” without any further explanation. A second employee came by later and asked my partner and I if we were doing ok. I said I was having trouble finding an item that fit me properly. He asked if I had tried this brand, that brand, and then walked away. Highly underwhelming experience from both employees.

I can see that just a few months ago REI workers spoke out about a persistent culture of racial bias within this organization and I can see that this issue is bleeding over to the customer experience as well. Disappointing.
