The conditions on this course were terrible for the price paid. Of the 3 Palmetto Dunes courses, this is the one that I would not go back to. I understand that they haven't had rain in a while, but the dead tee boxes, hard pan fairways and lack of sand in the traps is not acceptable for a $200+ course.

Over priced and underwhelming. Played here back in 2022 and the course was in beautiful shape greens were perfect. Come back in 2026 and it seemed like every other green was under repair or in need of repair. For the price of the rental clubs they were very disappointing, very cheap feeling with lack of club choice. Even after the round we asked if the set was missing a hybrid which it was not. Made a challenging course less enjoyable not having clubs that were needed to make approach shots into greens. Only positives are the golf carts are newer and have gps screens as well as the pro shop and outside staff were kind and helpful. Unfortunately we will not be returning to play in the future!

I came to Hilton Head for a week with my family in April and was looking forward to several rounds of golf with family and friends. After a few months away from the game (a New England winter will do that to you), I hit the driving range at Arthur Hills and quickly realized my swing had completely fallen apart. I booked a “tune up” lesson with Edward for the next morning, and it was one of the best decisions of the trip. He immediately identified one thing that had gone sideways: my lead arm was flying out in a classic “chicken wing” follow-through and gave me one of those tips that’s so simple it almost feels too easy. He had me tuck the logo of my golf shirt under my armpit and focus on keeping it tucked all the way through my follow-through. That one adjustment straightened out my shots and dramatically improved my contact. He focused on a handful of specific, actionable changes. Nothing overwhelming, just the right things to work on. By the end of the lesson, I walked away confident heading into the rest of the week. Edward has a calm, clear teaching style that’s perfect for someone who just needs to get back on track quickly. If you’re visiting Palmetto Dunes and your game needs a reset, I’d strongly recommend booking time with him. Worth every penny.

I love Arthur Hill designs and for the most part this layout didn’t disappoint me. I am not a fan of 16 or 17, too “tricked up” for my taste but I enjoyed my round. The negatives were the greens, which were very slow and difficult to putt. After playing the day before on fast greens in Sea Pines, these were incredibly slow. The rough was challenging but fair, but fairways were inconsistent. Good drives were often penalized by poor lies in the fairway. The staff was great, and the yardage book is a nice touch, but at $198, I’m note sure the value is there. I hope Hilton Head courses will reconsider the “dynamic pricing” model. It is getting so expensive to golf at courses that don’t warrant the price, with slower and slower pace of play. I’m a golf nut, but we all have our breaking points!

Played 4/1/26. I was a bit nervous to play the course after viewing each hole on an app showing an aerial view, as the fairways looked very tight, and the rough actually looked like sand at the time the photos were taken. But...the fairways were actually quite normal and fair. I had no complaints about the condition of the course; it was picturesque even in late Mar/early Apr. The layout was challenging, but fair, with several forced carries over water that a decent golfer should have no trouble negotiating. Got 20% off in the pro shop + a sleeve of balls by playing the "hit the green" on a par 3. My only criticism is the round was on the pricey side, but the experience and course condition justified it. Wouldn't hesitate to play again.
