  Went to return some gear that didn’t suit my needs and the red headed older worker was very interesting. I understand asking questions about the items but every time I gave a reason she was insulting that I should’ve thought about it more before purchasing. I had bought the goretex REI Rain jacket and after two uses the rain would seep through and my under layers would be wet. My friend who purchased the same item had the same experience. She then insinuated that I was lying about it. Never had this experience at any other REI.

  REI is a great store with a really helpful and knowledgeable staff 🏕️ The in-store experience is usually smooth, and it’s easy to get guidance if you’re not sure what you need. The main downside is inventory, especially for footwear. They often don’t have a full range of sizes or styles in stock, which can make it inconvenient if you’re trying to try things on and buy in person. Still, it’s a reliable place for outdoor gear and worth visiting for the service alone 👍

  REI is an awesome store! Even though I’m not really an avid outdoorsman, it’s always fun to walk around the store and look at all of the cool miscellaneous items that they have on display. In addition, although I don’t need the hardcore camping and hiking equipment, they do have a large selection of shoes, shirts, hats, beanies, pants, etc. that an indoorsman like me (lol) will find useful. What I also thought was cool was that they offer some classes like “Camping Basics” and “How to Pack a Backpack.” While some of these classes cost $50 for non-members, others are free and open to the public. Lastly, I loved their selection of dog equipment, which I could definitely see myself coming back for, as they had a few items that I haven’t even seen at stores like PetSmart or Petco. All-in-all, REI’s a really fun store, which I think that anybody, regardless of experience level, can visit and enjoy!

  I’m on a spring break MTB trip with my son in SC hill country. He got a flat today on an 24” tire and I realized I had forgotten all of our repair stuff at home 300 miles away. We’re in the middle of nowhere so I call my nearest REI which is this store and spoke to Dave in the bike shop. He physically confirmed he had the tubes in stock so we drove down. He fixed the tire, straightened the derailleur and got us ready for day 2. I’m really grateful to Dave for going the extra mile and saving our weekend.
