  I was treated like a thief here! I’ve never coming back to this store. I’d two different women giving long stares at my hands with towels I was going to buy. I guess they think it’s ok to treat people like that! I’ve no idea why. They told me they have lots of thieves in the store!!!! Like I’m one of them!!

  REI recently updated their lifetime membership terms. While that may be allowable through policy, there is no question it reduces the value of the membership. Those considering a membership should know that terms may be changed in the future and that you earn no benefits on anything on sale. I wish I knew the latter before I purchased a membership. Finally and probably most importantly, there is really no reason to shop at this retailer in-person or online. They are primarily a reseller and their house brand is expensive and does not provide a good value. I canceled my membership via email and don’t plan to patronize these folks any longer.

  They had exactly what I was looking for at a great price! Fox speedframe helmet and a Stans sealant injector.

  An average store, i have been to more expansive REI stores than this one. I’ve been a co-op member since 1986 and was disappointed by this store. I noted to a sales person that there were no pac boots and they replied, “whats that?” SMH! The store is small with limited selection and leans urban and does not lend itself to the spirit of the outdoors. I’ve been to REI stores in Alaska, Missouri, Georgia, Maryland, and Illinois and can say the Pittsburgh store is disappointing!

  Very frustrating experience. REI sells dog products, but does not allow dogs inside (except service animals). Even though there was a sign on the front door, this policy is confusing and impractical—especially for customers who want to check the fit of items like dog harnesses. I was questioned by a female staff about whether my dog was a service animal, which felt uncomfortable and unnecessary. If a store chooses not to allow dogs, that’s fine, but then they should reconsider selling dog gear that requires fitting, or offer a better way for customers to check sizing.
