- TBTyler BoyetJan 4, 20261.0I bought an REI branded jacket last year and it’s already falling apart due to a defect, not normal wear. I took it in to try and exchange it and they won’t help. Apparently they only guarantee their products for a year now. (I’m at 13 months). If I spend this much on something I hope for quality that lasts longer than a year. I’ve certainly had cheaper jackets that lasted a lot longer. Until now I’ve trusted REI to stand behind their products, but the company has changed since I bought my membership decades ago. I won’t be shopping with them anymore.

I am a member but they said that I could not return it because it was over a year. I shared that I had a serious illness and was left temporarily paralyzed, making it hard to make a return since i couldn't walk and was rehabbing. The customer service woman did not even respond to this comment about my serious illness and then offered me $13 for shoes that cost $100. Never shopping at REI again and most certainly never at this location. If this is how members, I shutter to think how they would treat someone who hasn't paid to be part of their "club". No kindness shown.

I stepped over and the other guy seems put out that he has to ring up my purchase. A generous purchase I might add. since when is your break more imports than the customer in front of you?? sheesh. you couldn't wait a minute and a half longer? And the other guy. well he just plain didn't want to be there. this isn't the first time i have experienced this level of rudeness there. I don't want to hear how REI is struggling. get it together.
