  It looks like some reviewers have staff complaints, but the two that helped me and my wife were super friendly. Found what we were looking for and very good experience overall.

  It's in an old mill! How cool is that?! I love REI. The staff were so nice. I love how they hint about upcoming sales or point you to online to save. I love that the staff love the outdoors as much as us buying stuff to go out doors! Go here. Make new friends. Find new trails to walk, run, bike.

  Hmm, this Rei is huge! And probably the best looking with the best history on the building it’s housed in. I’m going to direct my attention to the bike department,that’s where things get interesting. The shop does tunes, repairs, and sales, and plenty of people say the techs know their stuff. But my personal hero is Aron. I live way up in Bellingham (you know, that other rainy PNW town that’s basically Bend’s moody older sister). I found the exact bike I wanted online, called the Bend store, and Aron in the bike department held it for me. Not for an hour. Not even a day, for about 3 days. He kept it safe while I made the 7hr drive down(I know I’m a sucker for a good deal on a great bike). No pressure, no “sorry we sold it,” just “yep, it’s here when you get here.” In a world where most retail feels like they’re doing you a favor by letting you spend money, Aron was chill, competent, and genuinely helpful. He didn’t treat it like some big hassle. He made the whole cross-state pickup feel easy and human. If every bike shop employee operated like that, we’d all be riding around with permanent grins and fewer flat tires. Bottom line: Bend REI is a solid store with great gear and occasional service hiccups. But if you’re in the bike market and Aron is around? Go see the man. He might just restore a little faith in humanity while handing you a perfectly held bike. Would shop (and drive) again. 4.9stars—losing .1 of a point only because I still can’t find anything without asking for directions twice in the store. Thanks Aron. You made a random Bellingham to Bend bike pilgrimage actually fun and adventures. Got to break her in on the slopes of Bend aswell! Seasoned and ready to ride in the city of subdued excitement. 🤙
