First time here. Wow! Incredible outdoorsy store! We bought women's hiking boots here since REI is really the only store in our area that sells REAL hiking boots. Staff was super nice and helpful. Lots of apparel, shoes/boots, camping gear and I saw bikes. Didn't meandering around the entire store, but we'll definitely be coming back for more outdoor gear and equipment.

Great products as always, but very rude/unfriendly checkout staff member. The older gentleman with glasses (I think his name was Michael) working the checkout counter very obviously did not want to be there. My S/O’s greeting was not acknowledged, nor did he ask for my REI rewards number. When I asked him if I could provide it, he just stared blankly at me and didn’t say anything. I asked him again if I could and he gave me an irritated, even surprised look, again not really giving a firm yes or no, but I gave him my number and he put it in finally. He did not offer to give us a bag for our merchandise either… I understand the holidays can be incredibly busy and stressful for retail workers but as someone who has worked in customer service before, there’s a right way to treat people and this was not it. Every other interaction I had with the other REI employees in this store was outstanding, but the experience at the checkout counter really left a sour taste in my mouth.

Extremely disappointed to realize, only after my order has been paid for and processed, that this corporation partners with OnTrac for shipping. OnTrac is a wildly unethical and fraudulent company. I've yet to ever actually receive any order from them that says its "shipping" or "been delivered" and there is nobody that actually works customer service to ever respond or talk to on that end. Super discouraging from REIs standpoint! All im told is that they cannot cancel my order because its allegedly already shipped, yet, I have not received a notification about that. Been trying to get through to somebody from REI Corporate Sales now for over 20 min with no such luck. Lol!

Overall I have had no problems dealing with this store. I do have a problem with a product purchased: Salomon hiking shoes (X Ultra 4 GTX Low). After about 1 year it became clear that there was a defect with manufacturing and/or material. The shoe manufacturer, Salomon, states that they have a 2 year warranty, but they don't honor that warranty for shoes sold through a retail partner (e.g., REI, Amazon, Dick's Sporting Goods, etc.); instead, they send you back to the retailer. I call REI to let them know about this warranty difference, and they firmly reminded me that their warranty is good for one year and I have owned these shoes for more than a year. How about this, REI: I identified one product that you enthusiastically recommended. It's a terrible product and I at least want you to know that you're selling cheap products that last just a bit longer than your warranty and then fall apart. Stand on your policy all you want. I am one customer who will not return to your store, regardless of your co-op model reputation. I was insulted having to hear the associate assess the most objective, black and white facts of the situation, stating that REI won't do anything about it. Zero questions, zero empathy, zero interest in wanting to see whether there might be a reasonable way to do something, anything. My tone was kind and not combative, by the way. Hers was accusatory and dismissive. Terrible training. That's probably the biggest reason that I won't be back.
