We booked a stay at the Golden Nugget Lake Tahoe for my daughter's cheer competition held just up the street. A severe snowstorm and road closures caused the event to be cancelled a couple of days before it was scheduled. The same conditions made it impossible for us to reach the hotel. We called immediately, requesting a refund, credit, or even a date change. We were offered nothing, no flexibility and no real customer service. Extremely disappointing, especially when traveling from out of town for a family event. If you're booking ahead from farther away, be very cautious about non-summer dates in Lake Tahoe. Weather can cancel plans quickly, and this hotel showed zero flexibility when it mattered most.

I booked this hotel as it was convenient to the Event Center across the street for the Hockey game.
Upon check in, the front desk seemed annoyed that I was there, as she had artwork drawings she was working on when I approached her.
As we went thru the process of checking in, she told me because I booked through a 3rd party site, I was going to be charged a Parking fee of $22.00. I explained I was unaware of a 3rd party booking, and she said it happens all the time? I said I knew there was a Resort fee, but nothing of a parking fee? Why would a hotel ever charge for parking in their parking garage? what else would a person do? I was told that some people get dropped off? So those of us with vehicles are being punished for driving to the hotel? Makes no sense.
The view from the room was beautiful and the Burger Bar food was extraodinary.
The additional fees left me with a negative experience as well as the Key Parking pass upon leaving did not work.
Had to go back inside to have them reactivate it? The reservation person, again just seemed annoyed and inconvenienced.
Probably won't be staying here again... which is too bad as it is really nice being across the street from the Event Center.

I booked a one-night stay at Golden Nugget and initially thought I was getting a decent deal. However, after resort fees/parking and taxes, for a Sunday night, I didn’t feel it was a great deal or experience.
Unfortunately, the room cleanliness was disappointing. The bathroom was not very clean, and the floor looked like it hadn’t been properly cleaned. On top of that, there was a lot of construction going on around the property, and everything seemed to be covered in dust.
To make matters worse, I was woken up just after 7:10 AM by loud hammering and drilling coming from another room. When I called the front desk, they offered to move me, but since I was checking out that morning, it wasn’t a practical solution. I was told I could receive some sort of discount at checkout for the inconvenience, but in the end, the only compensation offered was having my parking comped.
At checkout, I politely explained the situation and the noise issue, but the front desk agent was not very polite or understanding. Her response was essentially, “Well yeah, we have construction going on,” as if it was something I should just accept. I understand the construction itself may be unavoidable, but the lack of empathy and concern for the guest experience was disappointing.
Overall, for the price and the condition of the room, I expected a much better experience. This was my first stay at Golden Nugget, and unfortunately, it did not leave a good impression.

We had a horrible experience at this hotel. The hotel mistakenly cancelled my room--that I had paid for--4 days before my trip. I did not request a cancellation and still have no idea how this happened. To re-instate the reservation, I had to be charged the same amount again. They informed me I would receive a refund in 3-7 business days from the initial payment. I did not receive a refund, nor any confirmation of a refund from the hotel. Upon reaching out to customer service again after the 7th business day, they couldn't find any note of a refund. I had to report the double charge to my bank as fraud.
Now onto the actual stay...our room was disgustingly dirty. There was a thick layer of dust along every surface in the entire room. It looked like the room had not been cleaned in weeks. Every piece of bedding and every single towel was filled with static. After just sitting in the bed, you would get shocked by anything you touched. There are no outlets near the bed and very minimal outlets in the room at all. Our room was supposed to be directly across from the other room in our party, and instead it was down the hall. This was after several confirmations from the hotel that it would be directly across.
When we booked this room, there was a special going on for a $25 food and beverage credit per room, with 25% off the bar at the hotel. We did not receive this credit, nor did we receive any discount at the hotel. This advertisement for the credit and discount was also a complete scam.
Prior to this hotel switching from Hard Rock to the Golden Nugget, it was one of our favorite places to stay. After trying it out post-switch, we will never be staying here again.

I would not stay at Golden Nugget Hotel & Casino again.
Our reservation was mysteriously canceled without anyone notifying us. We only discovered it when we called about connecting our rooms. During that call, the staff member quietly changed my room from a king to two queens without explaining it, and I only realized after the confirmation email came through. My friend then had to email them multiple times just to fix the mistake.
We were promised our rooms would at least be across from each other since they couldn’t be conjoined. That didn’t happen either. They ended up several doors apart.
The room itself was just as bad. The AC doesn’t actually control the temperature, the window wouldn’t open, and the room was uncomfortably warm. I called for a fan and was told one would be brought up. It never arrived. Hours later I had to go down to the front desk and ask for one myself.
The shower didn’t even work when we tried to use it. Someone did come fix it quickly, but that raises the question of whether anyone checks these rooms at all before guests arrive. There was also a loose screw sitting in the shower and a nail sticking out of the ceiling above it. Not exactly what you expect from a hotel charging these prices. The room was also dusty and didn’t appear properly cleaned.
They also don’t offer daily housekeeping, which conveniently isn’t mentioned until after you’re already staying there. We were supposed to receive a $25 food credit and 25% off drinks, but we never got the voucher either.
The entire experience felt disorganized, poorly maintained, and honestly pretty run down. If you’re visiting Lake Tahoe, skip this place and stay at Bally's Lake Tahoe Casino Resort instead. It’s much nicer and actually feels like a place that cares about its guests.
