If you are worried about playing this place in the winter. Don’t. Go ahead and book it now. It’s in amazing shape. It’s fun, and the staff are amazing. If you’re visiting ask the cart guy Ryan about golfing around North Carolina. Turns out he loves golf between Myrtle beach just like I do. I knew it was going to be good when he brings up Brick Landing. The people, layout, greens, and bunkers are all the best there is to offer. Thank you Tobacco Road for an adventure around the Sandhills. If you’re reading this review do yourself a favor and just go for it.

One of the most fun courses you can play. The greens look like they have elephants buried under them, but they are so much fun!!! I wish it was more affordable so I could play it in prime seasons like I did in early 2000s. In my top 5 courses I’ve ever played and definitely most fun. Amazing!!!

Had the chance to play Tobacco Road just recently(Dec 9). Strantz is a genius who was taken way too early from the golfing community. I’m fortunate enough to belong to a couple of clubs in Pawleys Island designed by Mike as well. From the moment you drive up you know you’re in for a great time. From bag drop, to check in and concessions everyone was friendly and very professional. One of the guys down at the cart barn gave me some useful tips for being a first time player there. Take my advice…TAKE THERES. Check your ego in the clubhouse and play the tees best suited to your game. I had an absolute GREAT time and enjoyed all the nuances and the layout, I get the whole you either “hate it or love it” mentality but I just don’t see how you can do anything but LOVE this course! I look forward to another round so I can try some different shots on those undulating greens. Word of advice, think a little outside the box around the greens meaning look at the hills and back stops. Sometimes the best way to get close to a pin is to go past the pin(People who’ve been there will understand). Thanks to everyone there at Tobacco Road for making my day trip a great time!
