  Last year we started shopping at REI, because out son was going to be a Webelo Scout and we would be doing more hiking and camping with in the program. The backpack sales staff were really knowledgeable. We got him completely outfitted. When it came to me getting shoes the staff were not as helpful and did not seem to have the time to do more then grab shoes from the back room and hand them to you. I was not too worried because we were members and I had been told I had a year to try them and as long as it was not a year, I could return them. I wore the shoes 4 times. Tried without insolses. Bought their expensive hiking insoles, and even got hiking socks one time to see if that would make the shoes more comfortable. They were not. So I decided to stick with my Sketchers. I tried returning them 10 days before the year was up, because I was really trying to get them to work and REI is not close to us, making it an extra trip to go there. I was told there was wear and tear on the shoes and with me waiting u til before the end of the year was like me,"taking a bite out of a stake and sending it back." I have only ever returned one thing and that was the insoles, because I accidentally grabbed the wrong size. I switched them for the correct size. We still have my son's hiking pack and everything else we got there. My son needs a new day pack, since he outgrew his old REI little kids one. I still need new hiking shoes that are comfortable, and all the other things he needs when he and I cross over to the Troop level. I will not be getting any of these items from REI. There are too many other outdoor places I will shop at. I have submitted a picture of the shoes. They are a bit dusty, but in great condition. Do not trust the Year to Return thing. It is also not ok to basic tell a customer they are trying to scam the company. I now have shoes that I won't wear because there is not enough padding and REI has lost a whole families business. I will also, let the other Scout families know about this.

  First time at REI in NC and let me just say… I get the hype now 🙌🏾 I’ll definitely be back! Huge shoutout to Yannick for holding me down during my Hoka triple black sneaker hunt — patient, knowledgeable, and just all-around awesome. He made the whole experience easy and fun. The best! 👟🔥

  Visitor from Sweden, lovely personnel at store that tried to help me to find out if I could purchase this shirt, this was only for showcase and was not in the system, so unfortunately not. It would been a great prank to my friend from Maine who ware this shirt all the time to show up in same shirt in next reunion, too bad really. Nice place and plenty of “fun” outdoors gizmos, pity that I already have most….

  Steven at the Pineville REI was just the best! I love that the folks here always go above and beyond helping out their customers. I've been an REI member for as long as I can remember, and Steven is a great reminder of why I keep coming back :) Thank you!
