- DADevan AOct 10, 20251.0Don't put glitter in your tire sealant! Not only is it super messy and bad for the environment but it is not effective! Honestly it is a little ridiculous. Do you think if Stans and Orange could have improved their sealant formulas by adding 2 cents worth of glitter from the craft store they wouldn't have? Modern sealants are carefully engineered with specially selected aggregates that bond well with the base (usually latex). Glitter is shiny plastic flake which won't bond well with anything. So all you are doing is adding a bunch of inclusions to a latex matrix that won't bond properly and when flexed during regular use will create microtears in the latex patch matrix. Honestly this sort of superstition isn't a good look, it begs the question what other secret ingredients are being used in the bike setup. Use a quality modern sealant and shake it well before adding and you will have the appropriate amount of compatible aggregate in your sealant. Bike bought Summer 2025
