Eddie put his tools down, when we walked to the counter, and engaged us fully until we went from "just looking", to purchasing a fine new recumbent trike (Tadpole). I think all of the staff are well-suited for their roles and they provide excellent service at every level. Eddie listened to our stated interests and needs and correctly interpreted our situation, leading to focusing on 3 distinct possibilities. Notes on what influenced the experience: My wife is Puerto Rican and close to 70 years old. Puerto Ricans do NOT ride bicycles, especially-not the women. There was no way I was going to compromise her safety, just so we could ride together (tandem did not work for us). This TerraTrike, Rambler is going to change everything for us! In only 5 minutes, she went from frowning (because I practically pushed her to sit on this trike in the store), to pedaling around in the store, doing laps and smiling! She had a "eureka" moment. After comparing many brands and models at various shops, this is the one we could afford and, frankly, it is tricked-out exactly how I prefer, anyway. This trike stops on a dime, without needing hydraulic brakes, as the cables are only inches long. The large 24" tires provide a very good ride and easy rolling across any terrain. We made zero compromise on options. In fact, choosing this model left us with enough cash to add fenders on all three wheels; (no dirt in the eyes) and a fancy, tall safety flag. Since this handles like a tiny car, my wife can instinctually operate it with confidence and accuracy There is no learning curve. She is full-speed on day one.. This compares with a friend's choice, whose wife was severely injured while trying to develop skills on a 2-wheeled bike, as she had no cycling history, either. This cannot be allowed to happen to my sweetheart, so this safe ride is our choice. This eliminates huge risk, and I'll be nearby, on my bike, to coach her if needed. I have always appreciated the approach that Tadpole styled trikes are designed under. Namely, you can't tip over the front wheel since you are sitting between the wheels and are low. The 3rd wheel is behind you. Other trikes often have you sitting high, behind a single wheel, which compromises your safety in a hard stop... You could do an "endo" (end over end, head over heels). This "Tadpole" design is ULTRA stable and safe. I absolutely would not choose any other style for my girl, since 2-wheels are not an option this late in the senior game. I have only to help her overcome her false thinking. She is operating under the impression that a "trike" shows ineptitude. I say, it shows a "cool" factor. Miles will change her mind, for sure!
