  Forge Dojo is a great martial arts community with an emphasis on a high level of practice on both technique and sparring. The instructors are extremely knowledgeable and have a deep understanding of Kyokushin.

  My daughter and I both trained with Sensei Bob for a number of years and would highly recommend him. He pushed us hard and helped us both reach levels we wouldn't have been able to reach on our own. I loved our time in the dojo. Injuries prevented us from continuing, but we still feel a part of our dojo family. I would highly recommend Forge Dojo.

  Training with Sensei Bob at Forge Dojo along with my daughter has been a life-changer. I see her blossom with so much strength, both mental and physical, that I never would see otherwise. We also keep each other accountable and have been able to grow stronger and healthier than either of us would if we were doing this on our own. Thank you Sensei Bob and the Forge Dojo community!

  The way Sensei Bob leads and mentors everyone at the dojo is a skill set that very few have. He doesn’t run a McDojo and gives honest feedback to everyone. I love the discipline and respect that is not only taught but displayed. The skills and confidence that our 6 year old has because of his mentorship (and her hard work) blows my mind. Sensei has built a community that feels more like a family. When personal things happen the dojo shows up with love and support that I’ve ever felt but once before when I was in the military. I love the way he promotes families to train together and the sentiment of family members presenting their loved ones with their promotion belts. We live in Laurel (23 miles one way) and go twice a week because we believe in what is being taught and the support of this community.

  Been at this dojo from white belt to black belt. I love the focus on technique, sparring, and fitness. Sensei Bob demonstrates applications of Kata and how proper technique maximizes speed and power. The dojo is filled which karateka who challenge each other to grow and resist the machismo attitude that is characteristic of other martial arts styles. The karate curriculum is rooted in the original Kyokushin karate developed by Mas Oyama, which includes bunkai, weapons, and throws/grappling in addition to kumite, kihon, and kata. Sensei Bob makes a significant effort to continue his own learning and training through video training with instructions in Japan as well as in person training with instructors across the United States. If you’re interested in learning true budo karate, this is the place to be.
