Expectation: Booked partly for the pool / resort feel
Issue: 21+ pool policy wasn’t clearly stated during booking
Impact: Kids couldn’t use a major amenity
Suggestion: Add a clear notice on booking pages
Booked this room for my family on the way to our vacation in Florida. One of the reasons we chose it was for the pool and overall resort feel. We expected the kids to be able to swim while we relaxed, and later in the evening they could watch TV while my wife and I spent a little time in the casino.
Unfortunately, we only found out the pool is 21+ when we walked down to it. My son had just said, “ooh this is nice,” when security informed us that no one under 21 is allowed. She was very polite and respectful — this is not a complaint about staff — it was just an unexpected surprise.
The room itself was good for the price, and everything was clean. Staff we interacted with were friendly. The only other minor issue was that we couldn’t find any luggage carts in the lobby or near the elevators.
Overall, it was a decent stay, but I do think the 21+ pool policy should be clearly stated during the booking process, especially for families traveling with children.

Previous review below for reference. New review from March, 2026, old review from April, 2025.
NEW. The manager and I connected shortly after this stay and he said if we would consider coming back to call him to see if he "could do something" to help with our next stay. That was las week. I called and the previous manager was no longer in the position but talked with a supervisor who found this report and talked with a manager. I ended up with 2 comp nights on a Casino offer and paid for one (a Friday night I paid for), and said if they could do something, great, if not, that was fine, too. I was hoping for an upgraded room or some sort of discount, but didnt' get one. Again, being a Friday night, I didn't know if they could, and like I said, that was fine. They did provide a bottle of champagne for us and in our room was a typed and hand-signed letter recognizing the last stay. I absolutely appreciated that and we thought it was a good gesture. As for the room, it was MUCH better, but the report of the carpets being old and dingy and looking like they hadn't been replaced since opening still stands (plus add another year of wear on them). Our socks were NOT covered with dirt this time, the carpet was NOT moist, but the carpets are still REALLY old and have not aged well. I would absolutely once again suggest finding the money to replace carpets in all the rooms, as this obviously hasn't been done. The customer service throughout the property was again absolutely amazing, from housekeeping to restaurants to casino floor. This was a good and an "eh" return trip. To be honest, we love the customer service, the bed is comfortable, the shower top notch, but the carpet age and condition makes us wonder what's under there, and that keeps coming back to us. After the last visit, I could've said we'd never be back. That's improved slightly... I can't say "never", but I can say if we find better options, we'll probably stay at that new place until there's work on the guest rooms that includes all new pad and carpet in them. It's just old, worn, aged, and WAYYYY past due for replacement. But, thanks to staff for the incredible customer service. That does go a long way with me.
PREVIOUS REVIEW: We got upstairs and the air smelled stale. It’s Louisiana. It’s humid. I get it, we’ve stayed here before. We turned the AC fan on high and left it on for the entire stay. The bathroom showed smelled of thick mildew. We ran some cold water through it and hoped it would dissipate, it never did. We dealt with it.
We started to get stuffed up after a couple of days. We thought it was the air. PLENTY of rain in the area (and upstream on the Mississippi), we thought it was that. Then, I was packing up and saw the bottoms of my socks were BLACK. Uh oh.
I went to the bathroom and got an unused washcloth and wet it slightly. I put a shoe on and rubbed it back and forth three or four times. It came up BLACK.
The carpets throughout the hallways were disgusting. We heard a container dispensing something then smelled the perfume near the elevators (to mask the must and mildew smell?). We went back into the room and noticed the design on the carpets were well faded.
My assumption is that every floor is like this. Absent a multi-million dollar rehab, I don’t see this getting better.
In short, this property needs a cleaning. Top to bottom. Wet/dry vac’s in the rooms won’t do it. Power wash the stone. EVERYWHERE. A full cleaning of the stairwells, sweeping, power wash, sealant. You can't perfume your way out of the state of your property.
It’s time to spend some of that money the casino takes in to maintain the property. Absent that, we won’t be back. We were thoroughly disgusted.
On the road home, about 4 hours north, our sinuses cleared. Mold, maybe? Hmmm.
