Just wanting to warn you before you book and are locked out and can't get to your camper because they don't even bother to tell you they lock the gate at 10 when you check in. Having a gate that locks at 10:00 with no code to get in is horrible. If you have a late evening event forget getting to eat before having to hurry back if you can even get back in time. Most places in other states give you a gate code. Or maybe allow it to be 11 or midnight so you can get back from events that end at 10! IF GATE CLOSES AT 10 PROVIDE A CODE IF NO CODE LOCK IT AT 11 OR 12 TO GET BACK FROM LATE EVENTS!!! ABSOLUTELY A ROYAL PAIN!!!

Well maintained facility and grounds and friendly and helpful staff. This is not the great outdoors but more like a public park made for camping, so expect lots of light and noise even at night with road nearby and so many people in a small space. My biggest complaint is the location, right next to a very busy road. Besides the traffic noise, pulling in and out of the campsite is a little dicey and crossing the road is a bit dangerous. They should really have some additional signage and highlighted crosswalks near the camp entrance to warn drivers well in advance.

I did a bike packing trip from Chicago. I loved it so much that I stayed a 2nd night! This place is a gem! The setting is beautiful; this campground is extremely well-maintained. The shower rooms and bathrooms are very clean. The staff is friendly and helpful. The manger, Elaine, was most gracious, accommodating and kind. You get a bucket of firewood at no charge! You do hear a little traffic but it's not bad. Some people have commented that you could do better in Wisconsin or Michigan, but that's like comparing apples to bananas. Deer Grove Preserve is in Palatine, but I don't feel that being located in a suburb detracts from the beauty. I did visit on a weekday (post Labor Day), so I imagine that you'd hear more activity when visiting on a weekend -- I was the only tent-camper on site! This is a perfect place for a Microadventure!

Amazing place . Service excellence. They have Indoor area with some educational information about the town/camping area. They have alot of board games , card games , building blocks for the kids to play just beautiful. Going out at night was beautiful you were able to too see the dragon flies/ lighting bugs in the area . It was amazing. I will definitely come back again .
