But the second person who came over, an older gentleman, made me feel like I was bothering him just by asking questions. It seemed as me wanting to test ride the bike was a hassle for him. His energy was off and I didn’t even feel comfortable asking for help after that. I genuinely felt awful after my interaction with him. He only started to change his tone when he was trying to get me to sign up to be a member. It kind of seemed like most people working there weren’t too happy which definitely changes the vibe when you walk in. I’ll still go back because I love REI’s selection but I really hope the team can bring a little more warmth and enthusiasm to how they connect with customers.
