Loved this casino. Other reviews made this place feel cold and dirty, not my experience at all. Parking garage was easy to navigate, fast elevator to casino floor, no smoking. Walking into the entry it was bright and open, inviting. Go past the entry point and there are a few quick bite restaurants or turn left and enter the casino. You can see the entire casino floor, slots everywhere with table games down the middle. Huge sports betting on the right, stage off to the left, bars seemingly on every side, even a beer vender when you enter. It just feels like I'm coming to have a good time with friends and hope to win a few bucks casino. The complete opposite of the "boats," where it feels like I'm here to gamble.... while pushing away ashtrays, looking for missing seats, people sitting on machines, and leaving smelling like the family car on a road trip. 👎🏻
It was a Friday night, good mix of people. I just played slots and did well playing 1-2$ spins. Seemed to have all the newer slot games, video poker area over by smoking room. If they had the old style video slots I overlooked them. I saw several handpays, one was a guy with his group of buddies who were at best 25 lol.
I got drinks from the free stations, so I didn't pay to eat or drink, but did browse the menus. Food was a bit pricey and seemed kinda lacking in variety. I thought there was a hotel, but I guess not? I also found it disappointing I couldn't use my phone Pennplay app to connect to the slots.
Four winds might still edge out as my favorite, only because the buffet and hotel. Joliet wins for the atmosphere and more modern vibe. Only reason I'll go back to the boats is to burn up my free play on my way to Joliet.
I’ve been going to Hollywood for months and I never win there!! The slots must be set at the lowest return to player allowed by law. If you’re lucky enough to snag a bonus it doesn’t pay nothing. You won’t win enough to keep you playing there for long. It’s sad because I live like 10 minutes from this casino and I really wanted it to work out but I’m still making the drive to Gary, IN to Hard Rock where at least I have a chance to win money. Even Harrah’s in downtown Joliet has better return to player odds.

I am just giving it a 3 star because man were these machines TIGHT!!!! And the app isn't that user friendly in my opinion. However, as for the cleanliness and newness of this casino - it's beautiful and smells new still. Felt very safe in parking garage, too. And appreciated the level of security and cleanliness of the structure. It looks much bigger on the outside than it really is on the casino floor, too. Unless we missed an entire area - which is quite possible. We will give it another try!
I've been to numerous casinos from coast to coast, but never walked into one and immediately felt bored - until I walked into Hollywood Casino. Yes, everything is new and bright and clean, but all it adds up to is huge slot machines with overwhelming video screens and roulette and craps tables. There is no poker room or Hold-em' room if that's what you play, just machines. Rather subdued and quiet when we were there, somewhat like being in a mall and not a building that's specifically built to excite and entertain customers.

Well... decided to stop and check out the new Hollywood casino in Joliet. Brought my standard $20, which usually lasts about a half hour on penny or quarter slots before running out at other casinos. Found the area where you can still pull the handle on a quarter slot. Won 5 quarters once, one quarter 4 times and was done in 8 minutes...but only because I looked around and listened to the quiet of others suffering same fate....or it woulda been 3 minutes.
But that's the slots...not really, they are usually set for a bit higher success rate.
Not much excitement or creativity in the lighting. I 80 construction makes access unpleasant.
And the real onion burner... the free coffee maker was broken...dang.
