I’m shocked to be writing this review, but I can’t let this experience slide, especially when it comes to child safety.
We paid $60 to skate, came from Spokane. and were treated horrendously by staff. From the very moment we checked in we were met by rudeness. Then, while my 3-year-old had fallen on the ice and was crying, a staff member approached us on the ice and aggressively demanded to see his wristband, which was under his jacket, as they don’t let parents put wrist bands on, and so rudely let us know. Instead of helping or showing any concern for his safety, the staff member raised their voice at my child, repeatedly demanding he show his wristband while he was still sitting on the ice, upset and scared, as I tried to help him. A 3 year old!
This interaction made an already unsafe situation more dangerous, escalated his distress, and showed a complete lack of care or basic humanity toward a small child. We grew up ice skating and have skated at all the rinks, but this one, and maybe there was a reason why.
When we immediately left the ice and asked for a refund on our refund protected tickets (bought online) the same ticket staff member was extremely rude and confrontational. She demanded our confirmation number and accused us of not having purchased tickets, despite the fact that she herself had checked us in very rudely. When I showed proof on my phone, she put her hand in my face, became aggressive, and threw my phone back at me.
I have never been treated this poorly by staff anywhere, let alone at a place meant for families and children. Given how unsafe and hostile this environment was, I would absolutely not recommend this rink, especially for families with young kids.
If you’re looking for a place where safety, kindness, customer service, and basic respect are present, this is not it. We all left crying.
