Located in Hertfordshire, Commons Wood Caravan and Motorhome Club Campsite backs onto luscious woodlands, while Central London’s abundance of attractions, exhibitions and shopping can be reached in just 30 minutes via a fast and frequent train service. For families, Stanborough Park is only 2 miles away with a playground, crazy golf and a gorgeous lake where you can enjoy boating and fishing. Alternatively, Reed Marsh Reserve is an ideal spot for birdwatching. There are also several National Trust properties in the local area. Welwyn Garden City is the closest town to the site, built as part of the Garden City Movement. Witness the town’s rich history by visiting artefacts such as a Roman Bath, preserved in a steel vault under the A1.

- AVA Detailed ViewAug 23, 20264.0Pretty good location as close to the station to go into London (which is what we did). There was a bit of noise from passing traffic (some boy racers with their big exhaust) but otherwise quiet. The toilet block could probably do with a bit of modernisation too but otherwise the facilities were OK.

- TWTim WAug 1, 20263.0Good location for links to London, which makes this an ideal site for those wishing to visit the capital. However, there were lots of comings and goings throughout the day (and night, disturbing the peace!) as people clearly were using the site as temporary accommodation to base themselves for work. This was confirmed, as we spotted several works vehicles, some displaying company logos. Not a true caravan site to enjoy on holiday. On a positive note, the wardens were friendly and kept the facilities clean and tidy.
- KBKeith BratleyJul 21, 20264.0Stayed one night on our journey back down the country. Like all CAMC sites we have visited, very professionally run with a friendly and helpful check in. Toilet and shower block appeared to be a little small for the size of the site, but we had no issues with having to wait to use the facilities. Right next to Commons Wood which has lots of paths and is very confusing. We got lost in there for an hour before we were rescued by another dog walker. One star lost as the site lacks a little character and we have found other CAMC receptions carry more bits and pieces to buy. Had a very peaceful stay and would happily stay again.

Can non-members book campsites online?
Yes, non-members can book selected Club campsites online. Non-members are required to pay an additional supplement of �15 per night to stay upon arrival at site. Tent pitches can also be booked online, there is no non-member supplement to be paid when booking a tent pitch.
Does the Club own any overseas sites?
We work closely with over 310 campsites which are regularly visited and inspected by Club staff. We don't own or directly manage any overseas sites.

Do I need a different driving licence for driving a motorhome or towing a caravan?
If you passed your test before 1st January 1997, you are able to drive any combination of car and caravan, or any motorhome with a weight of up to 7500kg (or 8250kg with a trailer). If your licence starts after 1st January 1997 then you can drive a car and caravan with a combined maximum weight of 3500kg (or 4250kg to include a small trailer weighing no more than 750kg). You can also drive a motorhome with a weight of up to 3500kg (with a small trailer of up to 750kg, or a heavier trailer if the combined maximum weight is no more than 3500kg). For all drivers aged 70 and over, the motorhome weight allowance is reduced to 3500kg maximum weight, unless a medical report is supplied.

How do I access the free Wi-Fi?
When you arrive at the campsite, you will be able to access FREE Wi-Fi (for basic browsing and emails only) after registering on the portal. The portal is only available when you are located in the hotspot area on a Club campsite offering Wi-Fi.
Where on the site will the hotspot be located?
The wireless hotspot will be located close to reception. Sharing a limited bandwidth with others may also vary the speed of service with some sites being a distance from the exchange. Our service is suitable for basic web surfing and emails but not updates or streaming e.g. BBC iPlayer and YouTube.
Do I have to be a member to stay on a UK campsite?
Non-members are welcome to book and stay at many of the Club campsites, however there are some that are member-exclusive. This information is available on each individual campsite webpage. Members may bring friends or family too, as long as they stay for the same duration.
How long can you stay on a Club Campsite?
Yes, however, if you have multiple pitch types booked within the duration of your stay, it may not be possible for you to remain on the same pitch for your entire stay. During busy periods you will potentially need to move to the pitch(es) you originally booked.
Can I stay on Club campsites with a tent?
It�s likely that since the Directory was printed, the campsite has withdrawn from our network and so will not appear online. If you feel that there is still an error, please phone us on 01342 327 490.
Can I book different pitch types throughout a stay?

Are trailer tents and folding campers welcome?
Boats aren�t designed to be used for accommodation on land and so, unfortunately, we don�t accept them on our campsites. The only exception to this is Wilderness Boats, which are small canal boats that are purposely designed for dual use on the land and in the water. Search for our outfit types page for a comprehensive list of outfit types we welcome.
Are roof top tents welcome?
New members can have online access as little as one hour after joining online. Your email confirmation containing your membership number usually arrives within 48 hours of joining online.
Are boats on trailers welcome?
You can include a joint member to your membership free of charge. Additional family members can be added for �10 each. Joint and family members must live at the same address as the lead member and be over 18 years old.
