Absolutely love this site! Beautiful surroundings with great walks and just a 30 minute stroll into Buxton. Site was immaculate and staff were very friendly and helpful. Will definitely return....oh, and our boy loved the ice cream 🍦

Lovely place to stay. It's a bit out of Buxton but not too far to walk in via footpaths. The site itself is in a beautiful location amongst the cliffs and we had a short walk up to Solomons Temple which was recommended by the staff and was well worth it - gorgeous scenery and views.

Positives: beautiful location, I really enjoyed the constant lovely birdsong and the amazing quarry rock all around. The campsite itself is immaculately clean, really well kept - the loos and showers were perfectly clean and there was always lots of lovely hot water. No spiders! They would benefit from slightly more powerful hairdryers but I’m being picky there. It was always quiet, everyone was respectful of each others space and no barking dogs or screaming kids - bliss!
Negatives: Sadly, we had a really quite rude gentleman check us in. We booked two pitches, ours as members of the caravan and motorhome club and one for our friend as a guest. She arrived before us, and despite him having her van reg, and our name he refused her entry. When we arrived, he asked to see our membership card - we have never been sent one, and we couldn’t have booked without being members. Eventually he let us in, not after being unnecessarily sarcastic and rude.
Not long later he and another member of staff came to our pitch to check on us (why? Do they do that to everyone?) and the lady was much nicer, but it still felt like we were being treated very strangely.
Wi-fi never worked for any of us, (one of us in their twenties so not technology illiterate!) even the paid one and with the unhelpful chap we didn’t think he would help us with fixing it so no internet all weekend for us. Again, I do appreciate that getting Wi-fi in an old quarry must be difficult to set up so they do have my sympathy there!
There’s a huge amount of signs telling you what you can and can’t do all over the walls in the loos, I understand they need people to stick to the rules but it was overkill to the point of being stuffy.
Finally, we woke up on our last day to a large dog poo outside our van - not the locations fault and dogs do what they do, but it was pretty gross.
All in all, the rude guy means we wouldn’t return but I can certainly see the appeal to others who enjoy a quiet stay in a beautiful part of the world.

Perfect getaway and a lovely site with a stunning backdrop. Great walks and beautiful countryside.
I asked the wardens if the washroom facilities were recently renovated …. No they said, they were done seven years ago. Could have knocked me down with a feather as they were spotless. Tell tale sign and my bug bear …. Plug holes …. Like new ….. gleaming.
Will be back … probably many times.

Stayed in our motorhome here. it’s an old quarry. It’s a bit more than a mile to get into central buxton but if you like a country hike then going through the country park is awesome. There is a bus from the other side of the camp but to be honest it’s a 15 minute walk to take the bus and so it’s quicker to walk through the country park. Walking up though is another matter - we took taxis !! Be aware Sunday is a day of for most taxi drivers in the area - we got lucky that an Uber guy agreed to bring us home - but it was a forty minute wait - the people running the place keep it perfectly and are very charming to chat to. We got lucky in April with three days of sunshine - even if the wind was a bit chilly!
