  Review We drove 1 hour and 45 minutes to Lickpenny after phoning the day before to confirm that staff would be available to show us the seasonal pitches. We were told we could visit at any time and that four members of staff would be on site. We arrived at around 12:10pm, but reception was closed. A voicemail advised that staff would return at 1pm. When reception reopened, we explained why we had come, but were told it was check-in time and were not shown around or offered assistance. We asked for a site map so we could look around ourselves, but were refused one and only allowed to photograph it. Although the site itself appeared ideal, the lack of help and welcoming customer service—particularly after our long journey and the assurances given the previous day—was extremely disappointing. We had been seriously considering a seasonal pitch, but this experience has put us off and we will now be looking elsewhere.

  Great location best caravan & and camping site i have been on toilets and showers always very clean i know its a c&c thing but this silly 1pm rule has to go you come down narrow lans and even at 4mins to 1 they do not let you in entance is blocked can,t stay on road as you will block it nowhere to turn around Thats my little moan lol

  It’s a lovely site which could be fantastic, however the washing facilities are poor. Three showers, for women and black mould on the grout, basic shower flow, cued for 30 mins as families and children processing. There are two buildings but at either ends. Needs a serious rebuild and didn’t feel clean. My husband also cued in the men’s. I would still return as it’s a beautiful place. Nice kids play facilities. Friendly staff.

  Beautiful campsite. Arrived just before 1pm and waited just before the barrier as this campsite out of ALL the Caravan and Motorhome Club sites is the worst for having a go at you for arriving early! We were advised by the check in lady (not Rachel-she is lovely)that we should have parked in a lay-by until 1pm. The route we were taken on by safe nav because of a Road closure didn't have lay-by's.....not that I would have pulled in as I wanted to get to campsite and wait patiently....I have to say, it doesn't bode for a postive welcome!!! The campsite is amazing. On different levels and offering different views. Shower blocks & toilets abit old but functioning and clean. Pitches are great proportions. Site large, 2 x sets of wardens. Keen to depart upon on time, the barrier wouldn't work and we had to wait for some wardens to realise the power had not been switched on or there had been a power cut. Everyone waiting was pleasant and didn't give the wardens a hard time but you see my point, things happen out of our control and tolerance is needed.

  This is a tough review to write, being new to the world of motorhomes. However, we have been to better, cheaper sites. The place is clean and well maintained. It's on the side of a hill, so if you're not good at walking up hill, avoid. The site is big and the pitches are well spaced out, this does however mean a long walk to the facilities (depending on which pitch you get). The shop isn't particularly well stocked, so take plenty of food with you as there aren't any takeaways that deliver. We stayed there for the steam rally but without that, there would be nothing to do as there isn't much within walking distance. My biggest gripe was the price. As I write this review, I'm sat at a site in Ross on Wye which is just as good but less than half the price. Id stay again if I had to but won't be rushing back.
