We enjoyed the site overall, but were disappointed by the lack of guidance from staff regarding motorhome orientation. Whether a guest has a UK or Continental motorhome directly affects how they should position their vehicle on a pitch (UK motorhomes typically reverse in, while Continental motorhomes drive in forwards). Unfortunately, we were not asked this on arrival. As a result, we we had to park next to a Continental motorhome that had reversed in, leaving us no option but to reverse in as well. This meant both habitation doors faced each other, which significantly reduced our privacy. In addition, the neighbouring guests had taken over the shared grass area, leaving us with just hardstanding. On our final night, the same guests invited friends over who were noisy until 11.30pm. Their group occupied all the outdoor space between our pitches, making us feel uncomfortable sitting outside and ultimately forcing us indoors by 8pm. Overall, clearer pitch management and consideration of motorhome orientation would have prevented these issues and improved our stay.

A first visit for us but definitely won’t be our last. Overall a peaceful and quiet site. Loved our large spacious pitch. A little bit of road noise as just off the main A road into Castleton and there was music from the YHA from behind us till 11pm on the Saturday night but that was the only noise in the 7 nights we stayed. Friendly wardens and the site is very well kept with pretty planters by reception. Great facilities and clean toilet block. Short walk into Castleton with lots of pubs and cafes. Can highly recommend The George Inn for food with lovely outdoor seating round the back. We walked into Hope which has a couple of tea rooms. Can recommend The Curry Cabin for fab food and service. No alcohol licence so you can bring your own. We definitely did our bit in supporting the local economy 😊Lovely walks from the site for our two dogs but we were a bit restricted to how far we could go with them due to a lot of stiles which our large 10 month old puppy wouldn’t have got over. All in all a great week with good weather for most of it. Actually preferred this site to Chatsworth
