Everything positive in this review ✨️
Still here enjoying our weeks stay and sadly only 2 days left 😢 the place is really relaxing the staff are very friendly and the place is maintained to a very high standard . Grounds , showers , and toilets are super clean 👌 if this place wasn't 7 hours drive away from our house I would be a regular visitor. Some really good walks starting straight from campsite , bowness town is well worth a visit with a really nice vibe . Thanks park cliff for a lush week 👌👌👌👌
We chose this site as it was taken over by CAMC otherwise it looked a bit ‘Haven’. It was a good way to stay with friends who had a ‘deluxe’ pod, whilst we had a campervan. It was a pleasant enough site, but not up to CAMC usual standards. Lots of tent campers meant bathrooms were in full use and grassy and not as clean as used to. Bathroom facilities are a bit tired and in need of a refurb and update. Splitting toilet and shower blocks is annoying. Corners in showers were not cleaned and accumulating dirt. Our pitch was level and spacious, but many pitches were not big enough for caravans with awnings, which went over the adjacent grass and made people too close on some pitches which by CAMC standards would be non awning pitches. Pitch allocation could be improved by size of outfit or let people choose on arrival as per norm. We liked the addition of the bar and food trucks on site but the amusement arcade room seemed unnecessary. Access to the site from the main road can be very tricky and should be clearer in website info before booking. You can’t turn into the minor access road from Bowness direction in a 6m campervan due to the acute angle which made getting about difficult. Would we return? Probably too much of a tent campsite for us, but if out of summer season, this would be a much quieter site with hard standing visitors only. The ethos of CAMC sites that are managed by couples who take great pride in their sites and service provided isn’t yet established but hopefully by next year some positive changes will be made.
Excellent facilities. Showers work well and don't need tokens or pound coins. Toilets are clean and plentiful. There is a good shop without massively inflated prices. A good pub for drinks and a cabin for food. The view is fantastic and the lack of light pollution make the stars pop at night. Ive stayed at so many places that were so much worse.
Booked months in advance and paid in full but ended up on the most unlevel pitch I have ever been on, asked if I could be moved but there was no space as my RV is 26ft long. Could not get the RV level so was uncomfortable inside and along with caravan next to us constantly arguing it was not ideal and not what I expected given the high price. Thankfully there is plenty to explore in the area so got out and about. More geared up for caravans and small rv's so not a site we will be returning to as it's overpriced and pitch 35 needs levelling and isn't in the best position as it was noisy for us due to arguing neighbours & drunks walking past when bar closed.
Disappointed 😞
We absolutely loved our weekend here. We had hired a camper van and last minute decided this would be where we'd stay because of the great reviews - it did not disappoint.
It's so well thought out they really don't miss a trick here, beautiful well-maintained camp area, surrounded by nature walks, cosy pub on site, food truck serving fresh tasty food, a little shop for the essentials (or a magnum on a hot day like we did!)
The toilet blocks, showers & washing up area is huge and you never feel crowded - if communal bathrooms aren't your thing they have private heated bathrooms to hire, I've never even heard of that before!
You can order fresh bacon, sausages etc also which I thought was a great idea.
Super dog friendly too, we didn't bring our dog as camping isn't his vibe but was lovely to see so many on site and that they were catered to also! I know that goes a long way with dog owners.
The bar staff were so friendly and accommodating also!
The food truck as I say seemed really fresh good ingredients, I was impressed they had a lot of gluten free options!
I was worried it might be quite loud at night on the site but I'd say I heard nothing from anybody past 10pm, and the site was still so quiet until around 9am.
The EV pitches have really good Wi-Fi too.
We walked up Moor How behind the camp site on a sunny morning, it was gorgeous! I recommend taking the less steep route unlike we did 🙃
Overall, I don't return to places often but I definitely would here. See you soon!
