  As longtime REI Coop members we've appreciated the top notch products and service REI has provided. The North Point retail store is a great space and is staffed by exceptional employees that are knowledgeable about what they sell and take the time to find answers to all of your questions. "Tripp" was especially helpful for us in understanding the correct fit and adjustments for travel packs. There is plenty of free parking. Be sure to check out the returns shelves for super deals on gently used gear. An entrance to the Alpharetta / Roswell Greenway for walking and biking is nearby, so stopping in before or after an outing on the Greenway is easy peasy. The only thing that could have made a visit more enjoyable would have been a coat hanger hook in the bathroom stall in the men's room.

  Was in the Alpharetta REI this morning looking for a.new pair of shoes for long walks on the Greenway. When I entered the store, I was greeted with “Welome to REI” from a woman at the checkout area. CarolAnn in the footwear area helped me find a pair of very comfortable Brooks shoes. Carolann is very knowledgeable about footwear and what works best for different uses and individual needs. When I went to the checkout counter, Julie observed I had been there for awhile. She knew because she had greeted me when I entered the store! (There were at least several dozen shoppers in the store that morning.) REI is a hospitable store, staffed with employees who know their products and inventory well.

  As a loyal REI customer of more than 11 years, I am deeply disappointed by the continued decline in the standards of the Alpharetta store. During my recent visit, there were no sales associates available on the floor. Several employees were present but engaged in conversation with one another rather than assisting customers. The store appeared disorganized and poorly maintained, with no apparent system to the presentation of merchandise. While searching for rain jackets, I found the apparel area confusing and inconsistent, lacking the thoughtful layout and clarity REI was once known for. The fitting rooms were closed, and, as has become typical at this location, no staff members were available to provide access or assistance. I needed a pant a jacket and shoes. I will buy this elsewhere. Overall, the Alpharetta store feels overly commercial and impersonal, losing the knowledgeable, service-oriented character that long set REI apart from other retailers. It is disappointing to see such a respected brand diminish in both organization and customer service quality. Not pet friendly is also a no go for an outdoor company.
