Frequently Asked Questions About Canoe Adventures LLC
What Do I Need To Bring?
We tell everyone to pack a lunch, some drinks as well as some suntan lotion or sunscreen and a towel for when you get back to your vehicle, just in case you need it. Your rental is yours for the day and we try to tell everyone to make the most of it!
Do I Need To Make Reservations?
Reservations are not required but we cannot guarantee we will have open availability without a reservation. The best way to make sure we have what you are needing is to call ahead at 850-658-2816 and make a reservation. Be advised that spots book out quickly so the sooner you can make your reservation the better your chances are at getting the amount of boats/type of boat you are needing. Unfortunately we cannot guarantee that if you show up without a reservation that we will have availability but we do tell everyone to call because circumstances always change and we do have cancellations at times.
Are there any Alligators?
This is a question that gets asked quite often. It is extremely unlikely! We are in Florida, so yes there is always a possibility. However, due to the cool temperature of the creek and the springs, it is extremely unlikely that you will see an Alligator.
Are There Any Facilities?
Yes! There are Porta Potties at all the landings as well as at Cypress Springs. However, there are no picnic tables/grills or things of that nature at Cypress Springs.
What is the water temperature?
The water temperature stays at a cool crisp 68 degrees Fahrenheit all year long!
Can I bring my own Canoe/Kayak/Paddleboard?
Yes you can! We do offer a shuttle service for customers that prefer to bring their own watercraft. If you do choose to bring your own watercraft please make sure that you have the following items: Whistle, Life Vest (Coast Guard Approved) for Each Person as well as your paddles. Safety is always a top priority!
Is the shuttle to/from the spring included in the rental price?
Absolutely! We shuttle you from the office which is located at 3342 Roche Ave, Vernon, FL 32462 and drive you to Cotton Landing where we will unload the kayak(s)/canoe(s) and help you get started on your way. Once you leave the springs, you will come down to the designated pick up spot where we will pick you up and the kayak(s)/canoe(s) and bring you back to the office.
What is the age limit?
NO children ages 2 or under! That is our only restriction when it comes to age limit.
How deep is the creek?
Holmes Creek averages about 8 feet deep. However, when the water table rises due to heavy rains/flooding that number increases.
What Category Spring is Cypress Springs?
Cypress Springs is actually a Category 2 spring. Cypress Springs pumps out an average of 65.3 Million Gallons per Day! Yes you heard us right!
Can you walk/drive to Cypress Springs?
Cypress Springs is accessible by water ONLY. You will need a boat, kayak, canoe or paddleboard to get to Cypress Springs.
Are Pets allowed?
We do NOT allow pets!
What should I NOT bring?
The short answer to this question is I would advise you to not bring anything that you do not want to get wet or possibly lose. There is always the chance of flipping a kayak/canoe (regardless of how skilled you are) or the chance of a pop-up rain shower. We do advise you bring your phone as you will need to call when you get to the pick-up location. However, if you do not have a waterproof case for your phone we do have those available for purchase at the office.
