We stayed 4 nights in a rustic tent site. Everything was perfect. Great location for exploring the keys! Very friendly staff, daily activities, nice showers and laundry services. Would definitely recommend! We’ll be back for sure!

PROs:
1. The location is great, right near the incredible Bahia Honda State Park. We did a snorkel trip from there out to Looe Reef which was the best snorkeling our kids had experienced.
2. The maintenance team is great. We had an issue with the water drainage pipe and the team came over, spent a full hour helping us rig it up properly.
3. The office staff is generally friendly and the store is well stocked.
4. The grounds are clean, staff are around every day cleaning and washing down the facilities.
5. The swimming pool is clean and a nice space with occasional evening entertainment.
6. Boating docks are clean, with easy access to the Bay.
CONs:
1. Sand fleas/flies are virulent throughout the site. Be ready with insect repellent and tea tree oil or other treatments. We got bit up pretty badly.
2. We used Passport America to get a discount for several days of our stay. When we arrived there was a waterside RV slot available, so we upgraded (about $20 extra/night). But the staff only upgraded us for the normal-priced nights and then when those days passed, they expected us to move to a different RV slot half-way through our visit. Voices got raised a bit on that one – there was 0% chance we were going to spend a half-day moving our RV & setup -- but luckily they finally relented and let us stay in our slot.
3. We rented one of their furnished RVs for our visiting adult kids. At $200+ /night we expected that RV to be in excellent condition. It was not, in fact it’s difficult to understand how this unit would be rented to anyone. Main recliner is torn up (see photos), thermometer (locked) did not work and ran too hot, there are places where the floor gives way to rot including one spot in the shower, and there are signs of an electrical fire having occurred inside the unit. The staff offered, on the final day, to move our kids to another unit, but at that point we said no thanks.
We stayed 3 nights at Big Pine Key RV Park and had a great time. Beautiful surroundings, clean restrooms and shower houses, you can bring your boat, fish, and they have entertainment several evenings and events. Nice gas fire pit on the waters edge for everyone to enjoy. Staff was friendly and accommodating. We will definitely come back.

The location is great. The people are friendly. The store, pool, and facilities are wonderful. The store had a nice selection of goods at reasonable prices. I like the boat dockage they have (I didn't bring my boat this trip, but the protected dockage looks great). I have two concerns... 1) There is a walkway over the entrance gate that is 13' 2" of clearance. Not sure who's idea that was, but not good for any modern, full size RV, so you have to go "in through the out door", which is also precarious. Secondly, this place is sooooo dirty. There are no roads or pads. If they would add blacktop roads throughout the park and a concrete or paver pad at each site, that would make a world of difference. I was there during a rainy week, and it was awful. The "roads" are just pot holes and small lakes. You can't walk a straight line - you have too bob and weave around the ankle deep puddles. A blacktop road and a pad at each site, that sits a couple inches above the standing water would be a game changer. If they make some improvements, I'd go back. If not, I'd suggest a campground that has roads and a pad at each site - and they do exist, not far from this place. Photos of the "roads" are attached.
Big Pine RV Park: More Than a Stopover, It's a Sanctuary
Rating: A True 5-Star Retreat
There are RV parks, and then there are places that genuinely feel like a reset button for the soul. Big Pine RV Park falls firmly in the latter category. From the moment we pulled under the canopy of their namesake pines, we didn't just feel like campers—we felt like we had arrived at a quiet sanctuary.
What makes Big Pine truly special is its palpable sense of peace. The sites are generously spaced and shaded by towering evergreens, providing a natural buffer from the noise of the world and offering a genuine sense of privacy. The air is crisp, the nights are silent, and the connection to the surrounding nature is immediate and profound. This is the ideal place to simply be, to watch the stars, and to let the stress of the road melt away.
Beyond the beautiful setting, the heart of this park is its hospitality. The owners and staff clearly operate from a place of genuine care. Every interaction was warm, every facility was immaculately maintained, and their recommendations for local hikes and exploration felt personal and authentic. This isn't just a business; it's a community they tend with pride. The attention to detail—from the clean laundry room to the well-raked sites—speaks volumes about their commitment to their guests' comfort.
Big Pine is not just a convenient place to hook up; it’s a destination for rejuvenation. If you are seeking a quiet, clean, and profoundly welcoming spot where you can truly recharge, look no further.
