Big Pine Key Resort staff were all very welcoming, kind, and personable. The guests/neighbors we met seemed like regulars who return year after year and had nothing but great things to say about the campground — we didn’t hear a single complaint! Our original destination was Key West, but Big Pine was the closest RV site we could find, and we were not sorry at all. The live country music, food trucks, pristine bathrooms/showers, convenience store, and great location will definitely keep people coming back. A few things that could use some improvement: the sites are very tight, the pool could use a fresh coat of paint, and the patio around the pool could be updated a bit — although the pool itself was still enjoyable. The fans in the family showers should be replaced, as there’s noticeable rust and dust buildup (my husband suggested aluminum replacements). The hand dryers could also use an upgrade. While Big Pine can’t control the insects, future vacationers should be very prepared for no-seeums and chiggers. I mention this to help guests who may not be familiar with these bugs and the irritation they can cause. Bring DEET or peppermint spray for your screens, don’t leave screens or exterior lights on, and wear pants, socks, and shoes when outside for any length of time. We were advised to purchase no-seeum screens, which is now on our to-do list! The BBQ food truck was fantastic! The nightly rate was a tad steep, but overall we had a great stay. Thanks for a wonderful experience! 😊

You can not have a fire here unless you rent or bring your own fire pit. We rented a fire pit, we were told it would be delivered to our camp site well over an hour ago & never received it. Now it’s after hours and had to hunt down the manager to find out that all fire pits have been rented out for over 2 weeks now. This was our 2 inconvenience here. The first one was the hidden fees per camp site $275, didn’t mention that each camp site with more then 2 people have extra fees.

Disclaimer: My rating is based on not typically staying at RV resorts or during holiday weeks, usually camping in spacious forested campgrounds. The good includes: park was clean from a facility perspective, ie clean bathrooms and campsites, and the location was absolutely beautiful. Nice camp store and live entertainment around a central campfire. We also experienced a beautiful little key deer coming right up to our tent and allowed us to feed and pet him! He was very soft and docile and sweet! What a special treat! The bad includes: expensive tiny campsites - our neighbors tent was literally 1 foot from our tent and you could hear them breathing, talking, and snoring. The beach area had a beautiful view however they had put mulch or peat on the shore and it attracted a lot of insects so you couldn’t stay outside of your tent very long, and the bugs would not stay away even with bug repellent. We weren’t able to really enjoy the view because we had to stay inside the tent the whole time. We were not allowed a campfire, which typically would smoke out the bugs. (You could rent a little campfire ring with a closed top for an extra fee, but we decided not to). There was only one central bathroom and it was about a half a mile from where we were camping so it was inconvenient in that it was near the RVs and not near the tent sites. Tents typically don’t have bathrooms and RVs do… there were only three showers in the single bathrooms and hundreds of people at the campground. The RVs were so big that they were literally one to 2 feet apart and people had stuff everywhere flowing into the roads, making transportation navigation very difficult to maneuver. Also, despite the beautiful location that we had on the water, it is literally right next to Hwy 1, making it exceptionally noisy! Sleeping was very difficult because of the loud traffic noise echoing across the water. Definite big downside despite the apparent beautiful location. Our second night someone pulled up right next to our tent, shining his headlights in and yelling and demanding why we were in that camp site (doing the same thing to the tent next to us) making a big to-do over us being in the wrong spot. It was very disruptive & scary. We decided to leave a day early. If you like overly crowded and noisy campgrounds, you may like this, but not for me.

I rarely do reviews, but we just got home from staying at big Pine Key and had the worst Experience camping I’ve ever had, we were told we were on a waterfront tent site, the spot was so small. It was barely big enough for one tent and one vehicle and when we come back the next day from exploring, there were RV and other small campers backed right up to our tent, they packed in so tight that you could hear conversations snoring and 10 PM was supposed to be quiet time and it was not also this campsite is right next to the bridge. There is no peace with the traffic going over that bridge. It was like setting up a tent next to I 75. We did not sleep at all because of the noise at this place it is not worth the money they charge to stay there, people that had RVs were very rude. We were supposed to say three days and we only stayed too because of our experience we couldn’t take it no more you are stressed out and very aggravated. If you were to bring your jet ski and boat, they have a docking area that is full of grass. I saw two by fours floating in there this place does not take care of its property. It looks nice from the outside, but once you get in to the campsites, there’s nothing to it. It could be really nice if the owners would put some money into it like the beach area should have sand. It is all seagrass and stinks very bad. worst camping experience of my life

This is our favorite RV resort we stay at several times a year. The grounds are clean, and well-maintained. The atmosphere is very welcoming, with an on site store, stocked kid-friendly game room , beautiful pool, and with amazing ocean views . All the staff, including the professional management and service maintenance crew really add to an enjoyable experience that makes the resort stand out. All the front desk team especially Linda, always goes above and beyond what is expected and all are extremely helpful. If you’re heading to the lower keys, in our opinion, this is the best Rv resort and only one to stay at!
