Mt Southington is a great mountain to visit if you want to spend your time on the slopes/in the lodge rather than in the car. Out kids have loved the instructions, rentals are a breeze and the dining options exceed expectations.
The instructions have been really good with our 5 year old now riding a chairlift and loving his interactions with the staff.
It's a great way to spend a day whether you're skiing/riding or hanging out while the kids are in lessons.
It's not the tallest mountain but it is the most convenient and add the hospitality is great.

The Kids had an absolute blast with a semi private group lesson with Mark. Everyone was nice and helpful. This place is perfect for lessons!

Great ski location, especially for kids and beginners. The parking is easy to navigate, there are several magic carpets and early learning slopes, and the whole layout is kid friendly. There are several indoor and outdoor options for food, so the lines are not too long and the prices for food are reasonable. They offer a variety of lessons for all ages and abilities.

Took my four-year-old son here for his first ever ski lesson. Paid $250 for a private lesson. It was a disaster from start to finish.
I emailed ahead of time to ask where to go. Was told to check in at Guest Services. We did, and they sent us to the wrong location — the group lesson area. The private lesson was at the complete opposite end of the base. My son was in ski boots for the first time in his life. That long walk wiped out his legs before the lesson even started. He was exhausted the entire time because their own staff gave us wrong directions.
The rental skis they gave him kept coming off his feet throughout the lesson. Poorly fitted equipment for a child.
The worst part: near the end of the lesson, a beginner snowboarder who wasn't even taking a lesson hit my son in the head with her board while he was on the ground after a fall. He's four. There is zero staff monitoring the private lesson area. No separation between tiny kids paying for private instruction and random beginners with no control. They can't even keep your child safe.
I emailed them about all of this afterward. Never got a response. They don't care.
Do not bring your kids here.
