Best cool around. I will try to buy anything I can there. True cash ack for members. They seem to be contracting again closing stores again. Including their only nyc store in the puck building. It's always packed. I have to believe they could move to less swank digs and be just fine. Really their supporters don't need swank. They need RaeI.

I visited this location because I recently became an REI member and wanted to browse the store to look for items that I could use. The associates are so friendly and I truly appreciated that. It was such a welcoming atmosphere. One of the best that I have ever experienced. A truly great place to shop.

The staff is very helpful but it may be a little difficult to get one to help you. Meaning not my department go wait I'll send someone over. It took me 15 minutes before the 3rd person I spoke to helped me. And he was great. The store moves at a slower pace probably because once you get your guy he helps you like you are the only customer. The selection on line does not reflect the in store inventory despite the claim something is in stock. If you are traveling a distance call and verify.

Excellent experience today at REI Norwalk only a few days after Christmas and on a Sunday when the store was packed with customers. I had to resolve a boot and binding issue with new XC skis, and three different REI staff, young guy in the bike and ski repair area but especially Paige and Chris, helped me with remarkable kindness, attention and efficiency. I could tell they were weathering the storm of customers flooding the store, but their sincere positive attitudes and unflagging assistance were much appreciated. I was truly impressed and thankful I frequent this store and that I am a REI member. Moreover, I was able to get out and enjoy the fresh pow right after I left! Love REI.

I purchased and end of season Fjall Raven ski jacket at RAI Norwalk a few years ago. Did not use it for the first season, it hung in my closet with tags. The second year, I started using it and realized the two stage zipper was unusable for me. It worked, but required a lot of effort to zip it up. If incorrect, the jacket would just unzip. At the end of the season, I realized this jacket was useless and learned I was not alone. I found my credit card receipt, but not the original store receipt. The store manager (Paige) would not give me the right time of day. She said she wasn’t even allowed to ‘look’ at the charge on my credit card statement. She handed the coat back to me and offered no suggestions. As I said at the time, that type of customer service explains why brick and mortar retail is dying. Even with a manager present, they did absolutely nothing to satisfy the customer, she was actually smug, in my opinion. As it turns out, I am not alone, many people have written poor reviews of that coat’s zipper system. It’s annoying, however, that I need to contact Fjall Raven myself, that’s something the retailer could easily handle, but is too lazy. I would never go to REI Norwalk again and advise others that their customer service is deficient.
