- JJJayslidezAug 25, 20251.0Been taking my bikes here for years to fix and recently I bought a used one and I had taken the wheels off to make sure there was no damage on Sunday and Monday I took it to REI to make sure and have them check to see if the rear wheel was straight and instead the guy working at the bike shop tightens my axle instead and sends me off saying “it looks as straight as can be”. I go home and not even a minute during my ride back my brakes act funny and I’m thinking I should change my rotor and pads since I bought new parts and I try to take the peg off since the bike is a SE OM duro and the peg is so close to my derailleur since the guy didn’t put it on to the frame fully that the room made my peg rub on the derailleur as I’m taking off the nut and I see that my whole side of the axle is warped and stripped since the threads are melted. I take it back and the guy says “it’s not my fault it is the last owner that had it before me or my fault since the nut is striped and tried charging me to keep my bike at REI to get a replacement axle blaming it all on me so now I’m taking the bike back because it’s their fault this happened and they instead of taking responsibility blamed it on me as selfish as they are.
