We asked for a “tower” of beer and were served a pitcher; my tab was charged for a pitcher. I clarified we wanted a tower, to which the bartender responds that we need 4 people over 21 with IDs. A female employee behind the bar attempts to correct him, saying it’s 2 IDs for a pitcher and 3 IDs for a tower. At which point the bartender raises his voice and dismisses us by saying, as the bartender, he wants to see 4 IDs. Fair enough. We walk our beers over to our bowling lane. On the way, I express frustration to my 2 teammates. Apparently the manager overhears and perceives this as mockery and complains to the league’s host. When I find out, I try to explain my frustration and experience to the manager, only to be shut down without feeling heard. Condescendingly, he reiterated that the bartender wanted to see 4 IDs and we weren’t able to show 4, so I was in the wrong. What he missed is that, just like his bartender has every right to refuse us service based on his rules or preferences, I have the right to express our frustration at what we perceived to be a negative experience at the bar. (Not to mention, a pitcher is 64 ounces and a tower is 100 ounces; do the math.) February 11, 2026. Date stamped because I otherwise love this place; experience with management was just terrible tonight.
