Recently I bought light hiking boots (one of the few vegan boot options). I used the boots for less than 2 months of desert tortoise surveys (just hiking through moderate terrain) and the boots were pretty trashed. They simply didn’t hold up and I even switched them out halfway through. The REI staff made returning the boots a hassle. One employee even hinted that I used them for more than hiking mentioning “ranching or construction work” again, I’m a vegan conservation biologist. Eventually the boots were returned but it shouldn’t be so hard to get a refund on a disappointing product.
