  Ok so I usually don't write reviews good or bad, but this experience warrants it. Got to the ameristar afternoon of the 13th of March. Only had a few hours to play. Got very disappointed in the lack of variety of slot machine games. Not sure why the majority of them were buffalo, but whatever. Lost my allotted funds. Got a bite to eat and proceeded to the parking garage to leave. That's when a large police force stopped us. Removed us from the vehicle at gunpoint. I was Handcuffed and placed in the back of the car. We complied with the officers and were shortly released. Apparently ameristar security turned us in for something. Still not clear as to exactly what. Or why it would have warranted such a large force and volume of guns to detain me and my girlfriend. Just to take our information and release us. The police were at least apologetic for the terrible experience, but I doubt the Ameristar will ever apologize for giving me my first time in handcuffs in the back of the police car. I will never step foot in that place again.

  *warning** review might scare anyone wanting to vist this establishment!! Short story: decided to test our luck on Friday the thirteenth, ended up with 5-6 police officers pulling us out of vehicle at GUN POINT. Detained, and scared out of my mind. Only lasted long enough to find out out names and our info then released without explanation of why. Long story: it's the 13 thing of March, a Friday on top of that. I'm feeling lucky and decided to spend a few hrs b4 work trying my hand at the one armed bandit at my favorite place. Ameristar. Show up and spent allotted amount, and lost $200. Sprits still high we are dinner at the fireside b4 we try to leave. Made it to our vehicle when we noticed a police officer parked behind our vehicle. We hadn't even started it. Barely got in. Next thing we know we have four police vehicles and several cops with lights on now and guns drawn. They order my partner out of the driver seat and derain him, and still at gun point order me out of passenger side and handcuffed me. Turns out Ameristar called them, and gave them a picture of us. That's all we know. Cops lied didn't tell us why and as soon as they learn our names and take our info release us and then they just left the hotel/casino. #*©¥ Ameristar and Gilpin county. I seriously hope that nothing happens there because they may have to remove objects from a dark place the sun don't shine to help.

  We stayed recently stayed and During our stay we saw the pool was adults only after 1900. We Went to the pool at 20:30 to relax as we had just gotten married and it was packed with kids therefore we couldn’t relax at all because kids were roughhousing and screaming very loudly. We didn’t want to be splashed by kids that were cannon balling into the pool so it wasn’t an option until an hour before pool closed as 2200 was when kids left. If the pool says it’s adults only after 1900 it should be exactly that and the staff should check the pool not to mention there is cameras all over the pool area security should be watching as well as staff that were restocking the towels and nothing was done about the kids and the pool towels were being restocked around 2115. This unfortunately isn’t the only bad part about our trip. Our second night there we were jolted awake by loud thuds on our door and being woken up by what we assume was kids banging on doors at 0430. We had a very hard time falling back to sleep as it had scared us and took us another 2 hours to be able to relax again. Another thing was when we had booked the room it had mentioned a free breakfast buffet and this is why we went with the Ameristar and we come to find out the breakfast buffet was $53.99/Person open from 1500-2200 and Sunday 1100-1400. Overall our experience was not the best and we highly wish we had stayed at another property we were able the actually relax at and get a good nights rest.

  We booked two separate stays here to try it out, as we usually stay next door at Monarch. Ameristar was a complete disaster to say the least. They lost the first reservation all together, and their spa even lost our reservation (then magically found it hours later). The second trip, I called in around 4pm to inform that we would be an 8pm checkin. We got there at 8 and they informed us that they were "completely out of rooms" despite us having booked a month in advance AND calling ahead to inform of late checkin. They offered no credits, meal vouchers, etc. to make up for the complete crapshoot of a stay TWICE. We will NEVER book here again and strongly recommend finding alternative accomodations in Black Hawk. The front desk was absolutely horrible in terms of service and anything but helpful. Also the spa at Monarch is much better and more competent with managing their reservations. Very disappointed, Ameristar management!!!!!

  Front desk staff here are so unhelpful and rude. Robotic attitudes with no customer resolution skills. What is the point in spending money where you are not treated with common sense or dignity. My husband had booked 2-rooms and we had our young kids with us hoping to enjoy a nice dinner and pool evening for 1-night. He got stuck due to weather so myself and the kids still drove up since we had booked and paid for the hotel already. When we got there we are told we can’t check in because he was not physically there even though we share the same last name and I offered a marriage certificate as proof. Reading reviews here a similar thing happened 2-weeks ago, the hotel replies ‘thank you this helps us identify areas of concern and we will raise this with the team’ obviously you have done absolutely nothing. Similar to that ladies experience the front desk staff kept going to the back to speak to managers finally I had to ask could the manager grace us with their presence. Out walks a lady full of attitude, no introduction to who she was, no concern for the fact I’m at her hotel with a digital room key that doesn’t work. She was extremely dismissive and rude.
