Just okay, meh.
I appreciate the Tuesday drawings, but not the fact that sufficient points don't need to be earned prior to the drawings that day. It allows WAY too many in and out folks making the drawings unbalanced.
Rooms..completely ridiculous that your long time frequent players are charged the same or higher price than walk ins. This really should change for frequent and long standing stayers!
Your new process of charging ten dollars if checking in at desk versus online is icky!
Not to mention the fact a person has to wait 10 to 20 minutes on hold if we call to reserve a room.
Again, I recommend you consider changing that process for long standing, frequent stayers. (do a search from 2020 to current day and I'm confident that we'd be one of your top twenty most frequent extended overnight stayers.)
Recently I stayed 2 nights as I tend to do regularly.
The folks next to my room were abhorrent.
The noise volume and smells coming from their room was absolutely positively unacceptable!
There were at least 20 other rooms occupied on the floor that had to endure this behavior that surely at least one employee should have heard about.
Yet...nothing was done about it.
Service...you have a handful of long standing employees that are amazing!
The flip of that, it is extremely difficult to get good service if you're not playing at the tables. This also needs to change!
Game choices....Yuck, Yuck, Yuck! I'm not sure why y'all decided to remove an entire long standing wall of video poker machines about 2 months ago that were on the first floor against the wall. (by the tables)
I do know that it was an absolutely horrible idea! You truly do NOT have enough video poker machines! Please consider putting them somewhere else in the casino.
I do appreciate that your coffee and soda machines have actually worked lately.
I enjoy the restaurant availability and the service is usually pretty good.
We find ourselves staying and playing at different casinos these days as a result of the room fees charged for frequent stayers and mostly as a result of the bad decision to remove the video poker machines.
I have loyally stayed and played here for almost a decade.
I do not use apps, or a players card. (except on drawings days)
I'm just that way since forever ago and at every casino I play at.
Overall, prior to the new room fees and lack of Video poker choices, I thoroughly enjoyed staying and playing here weekly.

I had one of the most absurd customer service experiences I’ve ever had at Ameristar Black Hawk.
I arrived around 1:00 a.m. to check into a comp room and was denied check-in because I was 75 cents short of the $50 incidental deposit. Not $75. Not even $7. Fifty cents plus a quarter. I had $49.25 available and was turned away in the middle of the night over 75 cents.
What made this even worse was the complete lack of effort to solve such a tiny issue. No flexibility. No courtesy. No common sense. No meaningful attempt to help. I understand policies exist, but when a guest is standing there at 1:00 in the morning over a comp stay and is being refused over less than a dollar, that stops being “policy” and starts becoming terrible customer service.
This was not just inconvenient — it was embarrassing, stressful, and unbelievably frustrating. A property of this size should have better judgment, better hospitality, and better escalation options than leaving a guest stranded over 75 cents in the middle of the night.
If this is how Ameristar treats guests over a comp stay, I would hate to see how they handle bigger issues. This experience felt cold, robotic, and completely indifferent. For a casino and hotel that claims to offer hospitality, this was a spectacular failure.
I would strongly encourage management to rethink how frontline staff and supervisors handle situations like this, because this was a terrible reflection on the property.

Im a vip member and the bartender took so long to serve me the person next to me had to speak up and let her know I have been waiting longer than them. I explained to the Pitboss and showed them my vip membership; dealers also let them know that I am a generous tipper for them and the waitresses. I know that nothing will happen as a result of my experience but the Ameristar has lost myself as a vip member and my wife as a vip member and my brother as a vip member. It is insane how dead this casino is as they lose all of their business to the Monarch. It is crazy that a casino with 4 x the business offers better service.

I had been visiting Ameristar for consistently for a long time. I was almost at the Elite level on my players card. Then about 4 months ago all the rooms were sold out unfortunately. I feel asleep for a short period of time and was simply asked not to fall asleep. I had been up gambling for an extended time and just needed to rest a little. I've witnessed many other patrons doing the same thing. I assumed they would just ask me not to sleep as they had in the past. But to my surprise I was told I was banned for 90 days. After the 90 day ban was up I checked with security if I could return after waiting a full night I was told I could return the following morning. When I returned my players card wouldn't work and was instructed to go to the cashiers desk upon do this i was asked to wait then was approached by a young manager i didn't recognize and was told I was banned for life, and was told to leave the casino. So after earning 45,000 tier points which is not easy to there i was banned for life i was offered no explanation just told to get out. This establishment obviously doesn't value their customers. Steer clear of Ameristar if I were you. Unless you enjoy being harassed by security and management.

Yesterday was my 1st time visiting the Ameristar Casino. I’m sorry to say that it was the most awful embarrassing and degrading experience I have ever had at any casino or any establishment I’ve ever been to period. My fiance and I went with some friends who said they love the place and told us to sign up for players cards and show our military IDs to receive some great additional benefits as my fiance and I are both military reserve. After signing up with our state IDs to prove our residency and age we then presented our military IDs to them and for some reason they assumed we were some sort of scam artists and proceeded to take our IDs into the back room and decided to call the local police to have us arrested. After almost an hour the police got there and they proceeded to verify that we were in fact not scam artists and that our IDs were valid the nice officers apologized for the trouble and left. You would think after embarrassing us and making us stand there like criminals for an hour that when the ameristar staff realized they had made a truly awful mistake that they would have had the decency to at least apologize for putting us through all that but no they did nothing and said nothing and made no attempt to rectify the situation whatsoever. And on top of it all they never even added the military status to our cards after all that trouble to verify we weren’t con artists they still didn’t complete our military portion of the registration. It’s pretty sad that they judged us in the 1st place for maybe how we looked or whatever but after all that and the disaster they put us through they didn’t even apologize or finish the sign up process. It’s just very upsetting that they have no customer service etiquette whatsoever.
