- RJrita jensenJun 28, 20255.09/25/2025: Update to my tale of woe about the clerk and customer from Hades in June 2025: I wrote REI off after an egregious experience on a weekend day in June, 2025, but my husband didn't, and wanted me to pick up his new shoes. Walked in on a Friday afternoon and saw at least 4 people behind the counter! The atmosphere seemed vibrant and efficient, and while none of them looked up and said, "Someone will be right with you, Ma'am," I still felt hopeful and positive as I was only the second person in line. A gentleman who came out of the office behind the counter did notice me pretty quickly and said the above statement in a friendly manner. Soon, a very pleasant and helpful young man helped quickly and efficiently determined my needs and I was done with that transaction in a jiff! So what do you know, I was so tickled that I bought a nice pair of shoes - even though my stomach clenched a bit at the inflated price for this awesome brand for old lady feet. My point: a little loving goes a long way in the retail industry.
