  Joshua in the shoe department was so helpful! He helped my girlfriend find the perfect shoes. He was quick, had good advice, and knew what was in stock and what sizes and styles were available.

  I bought a GPS watch at the Cal Expo REI. The watch was really dim. I couldn't see it in the daytime. I spent the next day emailing back and forth with Coros customer support. They had me try everything to fix it and then determined that it was probably a bad display and since it was only 1 day old told me too just exchange it. No problem, stuff happens. I return to the store and Joe starts my exchange. He acts like I'm bothering him for trying to exchange a broken watch and proceeds to imply multiple times that maybe I'm not smart enough to figure out the "complicated" watch. Even after I explained to him that I've talked with tech support he tells he is, "going to exchange it, but don't be surprised when this watch looks the same because I need to go into the settings and adjust it." He was super condescending. Guess what Joe..New watch works great. This isn't my first GPS watch and not just too stupid to figure out how it works. There is no brightness setting on the watch Joe. Also imagine this, I'm an older dude that isn't an idiot. As a matter of fact I'm smart enough to never go back to your store for anything. If it wasn't for the fact that REI has quality merchandise that I can't find at other stores I would never be back to REI period. So great watch but, horrible, arrogant, supercillious employee named Joe assured that I had a horrible experience. I get the feeling he treats all older customers this way.

  Do not bring ski/snowboard gear to be worked on here. Brought my skis in to have DIN tested and set - employees both misread the chart (set to height 5"1 instead of 6"1) and, more importantly, set the two skis to distinct DIN (one at 4.5 and one at 3). One mistake is human error, two mistakes indicates a level of carelessness that should preclude others from trusting them with your gear. Ultimately, I am responsible for checking and maintaining my own gear, but a professional shop should not be making these sort of basic mistakes.
