  I stopped by this store on my last night in Los Angeles to pick up some gifts for my parents before flying back home. One of the staff members found out we were traveling and went out of their way to help us check inventory patiently. What really touched me, though, was that he also took the time to write down a few local restaurant recommendations on a piece of paper — a small gesture that meant so much. It reminded me of what outdoor culture is really about: genuine warmth between people. That felt very LA to me. On the way to the airport tonight, the moon was bright and full. It felt like Los Angeles was giving us a gentle goodbye. 🌕

  I dropped ebike off and they had it 8 days and did nothing... they charged me $40, then I took it for a ride the chain fell off twice! So I took it to rei in huntington bch and they replaced the chain and actually looked at it!! They told me parts were needed to fix the Shimano motor, fixing it and I'll get it tomorrow, 4 days! Marina del Rey bike shop is dodge

  I’ve been a member since 2008. I have been inside REIs on both coasts, the midwest, the PNW, and Flagstaff. I have been a green vest during the pandemic as a side hustle. This is by far the worst REI that I have ever set foot in and each subsequent visit is a negative experience. Quite frankly, the issues are a reflection of poor management leading to poor hiring decisions and a culture that no longer reflects the REI brand as I have known it for over twenty years. REI under Eric Artz has moved further away from a true Coop that benefited the outdoor recreation pursuits of its members and now mirrors something of a high end outdoor Walmart where the green vests have zero real world experience in the departments they work nor do they represent the values of a company that exists to benefit its members. Unfortunately, there are not too many options any longer for outdoor equipment from a brick and mortar. At the rate REI is going, I suspect they won’t be around much longer either.

  There’s no way for customers to know that they need to validate parking. I made a quick trip in and when leaving was surprised to find out I owed $10.
