  Never met someone more knowledgeable about hiking footware! I can't recall the gentleman's name now, but my goodness he knew the ins and outs of every option and was patient and answered all my questions. Overall, this place is very much welcome here in Chico. The local option has 5% of the gear this place does, and then only 1 choice of an item where this place has several to choose from. While not a true "thru-hikers" store for gear, they do have reputable products that are generally good for most typical hikers or backpackers.

  I came in to get sized for a backpack to use for backpacking trips and was very satisfied with the time and help I received from Will. He took time to get my measurements and then fit a few different bags for me. Once I got one that fit well he loaded it with some weight so we could properly test the fit and comfort. There was a large variety of packs and I was very appreciative for the help.

  Went in to look at some smart wool and shoes and the employee (didn't get her name but she was older and had long dark hair) was very disrespectful (rolling her eyes and unresponsive when I asked a question because she was on her phone) and I saw her ignore others in the store as well. Huge letdown, been waiting for an REI in my hometown forever, but I won't be back.
