I’ve been coming to the Trek store in Burnaby for the past couple of years, and Jay has consistently provided exceptional service.
Two years ago, Jay helped me order my bike and gave me extremely professional, knowledgeable, and attentive service throughout the process. Today, I went back to the store to purchase some additional accessories, and I specifically looked for Jay again.
Jay is someone you can completely trust. He takes the time to understand what you need, gives honest and professional advice, and never makes you feel pressured to buy something you don’t need.
It’s rare to find this level of customer service, and Jay is a big reason why I’m happy to keep coming back to this Trek store.
Highly recommended!

Great customer service. Quick turn around time for bike service. Prices were great compared to another local bike shop. Will not take my bike anywhere else to get fixed ever again!

I brought my bike in at the beginning of May for a rebuild. I was told it would be a straightforward job taking approximately 10 days. Nearly three months later—and after I was told I needed several thousand dollars’ worth of additional parts—the bike was finally declared complete. I asked many times before taking the bike into my possession to ensure there was no issues and that it was safe to ride; they assured me I had nothing else to worry about.
To the shop’s credit, they ultimately refunded the cost of the labour and parts. I appreciated that gesture, but my goal was never to receive free work. I simply wanted a properly functioning bike that was safe to ride. Trek is fantastic at apologizing though.
However, on my first ride after receiving the bike, I immediately began noticing problems. There was damage to the head tube, handlebars, and bearings. More seriously, the rear derailleur limit screws had not been properly adjusted. The derailleur came dangerously close to entering the spokes while I was riding, which could have caused the wheel to lock up and resulted in a catastrophic crash.
The internal brake hose and Di2 wiring had also been improperly routed. They were twisted and wrapped around the headset, creating friction that could eventually have damaged or severed the brake hose. Not to mention the brake fluid was improperly administered and spilled on both brake pads. There was a number of other issues as well (cracked paint, wrong bearings used and a cracked cap on my handlebars).
Thankfully, I noticed these problems before a serious accident occurred. I have since taken the bike to a reputable independent shop for a complete inspection. The mechanics there were shocked by the quality of the work and continued to uncover additional safety concerns as the inspection progressed. I have never seen a bike mechanic look so stunned at such shoddy work. This has brought me back to square one, months later, without a safe bike to ride STILL!
Cyclists trust the professionals working on their bikes to return equipment that is safe and capable of getting them home. I am deeply disturbed by how close I may have come to a serious injury because of this workmanship. I have been informed by Trek that everyone involved took a hard look at how this happened and whether they were meeting the basic responsibilities that come with working on equipment where mistakes can have life-altering consequences.
