Quintero’s “RETURN TO GLORY” This is an update to a review that was left Dec 2024, which was 0/5 stars. We paid ~$400 to play a course last year that looked as if the entire maintenance staff had been told to stop working for the previous month (overgrown tee boxes, burned out fairways, traps with no sand but dirt and rocks, and greens that were dead/dying and had chunks missing). On top of that, after a mid round run in with the now “infamous Marshall” who might have been the rudest golf course employee we’ve crossed paths with at any course harassing us about pace of play despite us waiting on every shot for the six-some! of (5) little kids and (1) their mom chaperone ahead of us, our group had written off every returning to this hell scape. Then at the end of the round, a bag kid clued us in to the fact that the course was going to announce it would be closing in 2025 for a massive renovation. Jump to Nov 2025, first week the course reopened and it was a night and day different experience start to finish. Reno included all new sand traps and new greens, and some refreshing changes to staff. Course was pure, bunkers are 10/10, the only reason this did not get 5/5 stars is because the greens still have some growing in - they were super soft and really slow, you’d leave footprints walking on them (by the PM round, you’d be putting through other people’s footprints). Suspect in the coming weeks maintenance will have them firmed up and running where they need to be. Played 36 in one day, with troon access pass rounds were $175 in AM and $121 in PM. Marshall Charlie/Jerry, massive improvements from the “infamous Marshall” whose name may or may not rhyme with Himmy (who is supposedly not welcomed back). Ashley & Hannah were incredibly professionally. Todd wales was helpful and attentive. The new ownership did a fantastic job - whoever is now running the show clearly has a vested interest in bringing this course back to life (with apparently some more improvements planned for the future which we are looking forward to) so a massive thank you to the new man behind the scenes!

Out here for a golf trip with the boys, and this was hands down one of the best rounds we’ve ever played. From the moment we pulled up to the gate, everything was absolutely dialed in. If you’re lucky enough to catch Charlie before teeing off on the 1st, he’ll get you squared away and set the tone for an awesome round. The $8 million in renovations really shows - every inch of this course is first-class. The par 3s are spectacular, the fairways roll true, and a couple of the par 5s are reachable in two if you’re swinging well. Can’t recommend Quintero enough. 10/10 experience from start to finish.

it’s ridiculous that this is a troon Course and they don’t honor troon pts or troon members. of course there’s beautiful views, but being closed for the last seven months you would think the greens would be in great shape, not so! There’s better courses with better rates, don’t waste your time

If you want to see Arizona Golf at its absolute best, Quintero should be at the top of your list! Unbeatable topography with stunning views. on nearly every hole, manicured landscapes, big smooth rolling greens - all leading to a fantastic golf experience. Expensive, hard to justify greens fees and ridiculously expensive beers - but incredible service! Even got complimentary cookies delivered to us, and visits from javelina and burros!

Quintero is consistently rated among the best public courses in Arizona, and it’s easy to see why. The elevation changes alone make it unforgettable—teeing off from elevated boxes with sweeping views is a thrill. The fairways are generous, but the greens are tricky and demand precision. It’s a challenging course, but it’s also incredibly fun, with every hole offering something unique. The drive out there is a bit longer, but once you’re on the course, you realize it’s absolutely worth the trip.
