- VHViola HitchcockApr 17, 20265.0They were great there they were kind and friendly , they seem more experienced about the ignition interlock , I've had no problem with the ignition interlock having to be recalibrated , the one on rudkin road where I got the first ignition interlock , I had to have it recalibrated three times in December the first month I got it , I will definitely recommend people that I know that needs a ignition interlock put in their vehicle to get it at Smart Start !! How does an Interlock Device work?
When you blow into your Ignition Interlock Device, you're providing a breath test sample in order to start the vehicle. The device then measures your Breath Alcohol Concentration (BrAC), and will either say that you passed, need to retest, or failed. You will be asked to take rolling retests throughout your drive.

Breathalyzers only measure your Breath Alcohol Concentration (BrAC).
Is an Ignition Interlock the same as a breathalyzer?
Ignition Interlock and handheld breathalyzers both test your Breath Alcohol Concentration (BrAC), but an Ignition Interlock Device is only installed in vehicles and prevents the car from starting if there is alcohol detected. A handheld breathalyzer only detects alcohol and may tell you the concentration.
