I didn’t get the gentleman’s name but there is a sweet man who hovers near the entrance and greets everyone coming in, and asks if you’re looking for anything in particular. I only came in to browse, but I loved how knowledgeable he was with everyone who came in.

There is not usually any parking within an accessible distance of this store (street parking only in a confusing area to drive around with extremely heavy foot traffic). There may be one or two load/unload spots in front of the building but I have never seen them open. Otherwise, I highly recommend! Whatever you need for art, Blick probably has it or can tell you where to find it. Just take the bus if you can :)

On blicks website is way more cheaper than the store. When I went in person to the store to save the shipping cost and the waiting time for the delivery . I was shocked when I saw that the cost of what I was going to buy online was double the cost in the store. I asked the cashier if she was going to honor the price as is stated on their website and she told me that it was not possible because she told me that she need to charge me the shipping cost and I told her: "what do you mean if I am here in the store you don't have to send me anything" and my surprise was even more when she told me that the customers have to pay of what the suppliers charge for shipping cost to send their items to blick store. I would never buy again on this store again, there is other cheaper options online the only downside is that you have to wait for the delivery and you may pay for shipping, but when you spend certain amount of money they may wave the shipping cost. I really miss Daniel Smith Store.

There have been some great Art stores in Seattle throughout my creative journey, Seattle Art Supply was one of my favorites when I was in highschool back in the late 80s and through the mid 90s. There was the mom and pop shops that were tiny but pricey like Dakota Art, local favorites that you have to go out of the way for like Daniel Smith (sad it closed), and during my times in school for Illustration at Cornish I was a regular Utrecht shopper for furniture and canvases. Well Utrecht moved and was bought out by an art store chain I used to go to in Glendale, CA. while in school in Burbank for Architecture called Blick.
I have known Blick as an online art material catalogue for years since and was excited they were finally putting a brick and mortar one stop shop for Art in my neighborhood. I am always pleased as punch to visit Blick. One, it's close. Two, it's got a nice selection. Three, there are usually a nice amount of sale items. And lastly they have great customer service.
Today I took my youngest who is working on a cosplay for ECCC and loves to draw and create characters. So it almost felt like I was passing my art store addiction on to them 😊.
